I've got three rules that I've carried with me to every job I've ever had.....
1. Don't lie to me. I'm a big boy so tell me the truth and don't sugarcoat anything so you can tell me what you "think" I want to hear.
2. Do everything you tell me you are going to, including what you told me you are going to pay me. If its not enough, then I'll thank you for the opportunity and move on.
3. Don't ever ask me to do anything illegal. I'll quit on the spot and tell anybody with authority why I did. And know this, if there's a record like an email, Qualcomm message, or something else saved, I'm going to take it and sue you with it.
People will call it brown noseing or kissing butt, but it's not. I don't like people enough to want to get to know anybody from my employer, nor do I want any pats on the back. I work here. Pay me for working and leave me alone otherwise. People this day and time don't want to work, cry and moan when domeone doesn't tell them what a swell person they are, gripe about this and that, etc. For Christ's sake, just go out and work.laytonrock, okiedokie and g.o.a.l Thank this. -
That's a stretch. 10 minutes early is plenty.

If you have to suck up, you have no self respect. At the end of your career, you end up with no more than the guy that did not kiss butt, and everyone at work knows what you are. A horrible legacy....
Just do your job, be kind to others as you would want someone to be to your wife, son or daughter, and you will be ok.
By kissing up, they end up owning you, and when they need a favor, guess what, you better not say no.....You want to go to your childs recital, and the boss calls for a really hot load, and no one esle is avaiable......Oh ya, it will happen....
Be your own man or woman, and get noticed be standing out as a good emplyee and individual....Bosses and everyone else can spot a brown noser a mile away..... -
Thanks Ghost Ryder. Being professional in your job (any job) will make life so much easier for you. And you will be surprised how many opportunities will open up because of it.Ghost Ryder Thanks this. -
But a driver has to learn to balance a can-do attitude with a "I'm not your fix-it driver" so some DM's don't constantly put you in difficult positions because you've demonstrated you can get them out of a jam of their own (or some other driver's) creations.
That is a problem.......I became "go to guy" for awhile and while I do like a challenge..... it burned me in the long run on the check side.
What's tough for me is the super 10 drivers on the top. I don't know what they have pictures of but they have something....... I even asked them who they pay and how much......I can't touch them.
Only way I found was to pressure the DM...... when he calls at 2am and says so and so is running out I tell him NO, you need to call those you babysat all week, they owe you........ I don't. And when the RM starts talking about team players, I ask him to review the settlement report........I would love to join the team but.........a little equalization please?

in other words. DO YOUR DANG JOB THAT YOU WAS HIRED FOR. don't be a pain in the backside complaining all the time. they will remember the way you perform!
Ghost Ryder Thanks this. -
The reason why I said 30-45 minutes is because 9 times out of 10 they will ask you to clock in. If you're already there, they aren't going to call in another driver.

We don't HAVE to do this. The objective of this thread was to point out ways how you can stick out from the crowd.
