I stay in touch with most of the guys that were students on my truck when I worked and trained for May. A few are still driving, most aren't. I was talking to one of them them that lives down in the L.A. area last Friday. He told me he really wanted to go to work where I do, but local. He got a job last Fall pulling tanker doubles (construction materials) locally, but isn't that crazy about it.

Anyways, my boss calls me yesterday and asks if I know anyone that lives in L.A. that would like a job running a new route he's just starting down there. Namely, a 572 mile daily round trip hook loaded and drop, hook empty and return home. 5 days a weeks, home every weekend.

Some guys are just in the right place at the right time :) My buddy starts with us in a couple of weeks.

I'd like to work for a company that doesn't use Qualcomms from the last millennium. Is that asking too much?

Lol! Not very often... And I'm likely getting together with a cute girl soon for some adult hang-out time, so even less EVE time.... Life is so rough. I did play EVE on the road with a Verizon 4G hotspot, was plenty fast. EVE doesn't use much bandwidth, so I always had more than enough data. And I'm a combat pilot using voice comms for fleet ops, so a lone Carebear would have no problem. Even with 3G it's fine...

Some guys are retiring soon, and on the list for the newest day shift opening up, I have 7 days seniority. So, might be off this night thing soon. Nights do have advantages though; I would have to deal with rush-hour traffic again, as well as the heat of the day in those fire-resistant uniforms we have. That can be pretty rough... But days would be better overall. Well, it's my Monday, so off to work I go. o/
