But remember...The megas are the ones saying we have a driver shortage going on right now. There is supposed to be SOOOOOOOOOO many loads that cant be covered tho. Then how come you are doing so much sitting around? This industry has always had ups and downs. Like we have done many times before...Adjust, Adapt, Deal. Yes, being and O/O I can choose what, where, when, why works to my benefit. And now with the new HOS rules, I am going to benefit greatly. But, you said it will hurt EVERYBODY. So, where is it wrong that the O/O's benefit and not the megas for a change? Reps for the megas always have had reps on the board saying what WE need. They werent speaking for ME. But, they claim it will work for me. Now, it doesnt benefit them. But, you want to blame O/O's for benefiting cause your company isnt getting you the loads you want. Its a 2-way street. When your handed lemons...Make lemonade. No matter what...SOMEONE gets the short-end of the stick. Remember, there is hatread every time they change the HOS (except the megas until this time).

    5 14 hour days . Stop 8 p.m. 5th day . 34 hours is 6 a.m. the 7th day . Run 14 hours = 84 hours in 7 days .

Wrong. There was a thread on here showing a safety board made up of a rep from Maverick, JB, and a couple other megas showing the benefits of EOBR's in the trucks and other safety devices. They took it to the feds if I remember correctly. Just saw this about the magazine Land Line. Pages 20 and 21 in the June 2013 issue. It talks about the megas and how they are pushing for the EOBR's in all trucks and more. Just look it up.

Statement directly from FMCSA regarding WHY they are modifying the current rules:

"FMCSA's new HOS final rule reduces by 12 hours the maximum number of hours a truck driver can work within a week. Under the old rule, truck drivers could work on average up to 82 hours within a seven-day period. The new HOS final rule limits a driver's work week to 70 hours"

the problem here is,if on paper,or elogs is knowing when to nap, till you teach that you cant fix problem.us drivers on paper for the most part know when to nap,we might not be legal but we are safe, you cant legislate when a person is tired and dangerous, you might as i have been two hours into day and i look at my gf and say i need nap,so i take one and adj my book.that does not make me unsafe.i have felt good running 1000 miles and i have had hard time making 500 miles.so if i feel good at 1000 and fight to get 500 when am i safer.
