home time and pay depend on which division you are in (van truckload , bulk, intermodal, etc..) and region you would primarily run. Also Home time would depend on which position you hired in on. go to www.schneiderjobs.com to see what is hiring in your area for all positions. they wont say the starting rate but will give an upto annual amount which is usually what the topped out experienced drivers would make.

They have changed how the give raises so I couldn't say with any certainty how quickly you would get one. But for me it was at 6 months, .05 cpm I think. But I changed to a dedicated position that paid less cpm but had extra pay so I make out better and am home just about every day.

Being a vet you might have your own recruiter that would place you in the job you want. heres the link that specific page http://schneiderjobs.com/company-drivers/military

first things first, finish school!!! Any other questions, I'll see what I can do for answers.

    Thanks for your service.

someone running VTL would have to weigh in on that. My dedicated route nets me around 2k miles per week.

What region are you in? Further, will you be trying to hire in on regional or 48OTR?

What part of South Texas? I am thinking of moving to the Houston/Galveston Region. Heard there is a lot of oil related jobs there for drivers. Any confirmation you could give? Any advice?

It is the San Antonio area to the west and south. Any of the Bigger oil field service companies have yards around there you can look at Key, Select, Heard Alan Richie and Bridgeport Tank Trucks are there.

I run regional out of dallas, last week I got 2.5k this week was only 1.8k but was running in the Ozarks so was slow going. I do my 34hrs reset at home so that cuts my miles too.
