Yea see & called to where they say allegedly that you 2,200 a week, off weekends. Plus extra stop pay everyday (might have heard her wrong on that). 10 cents a tire 9 (900 tires a load=$90). Is this a good terminal to work for? Any other information will be appreciated.

Talk to a driver from that area, recruiters don't always give truths. Seems like a lot of work for humpin tires. I worked for Knight for 3 plus years, it was a ok company. I ran out Katy TX so can't speak for other terminals, some are good, some aren't.

$2200/week is $114400/year. Is that Owner/Op pay you were quoted? Company drivers in ATL are averaging anywhere from 40-60k per year, depending on the type of work.

Even with a 6 day legal work week of 11 hours driving per day averaging 55 mph (3630 miles), that's running at 61 cents/mile, which would be unheard of for a company driver.

Working only 5 days (3025 miles/55 mph/11 drive hours) brings that up to 73 cents/mile.

No, I wish. 2,200 Miles per week between 35 to 45 cents per mile multiple stops $15 each & 10 cents per tire (900 tires per load=$90) off weekends but my friend just told me guys been quitting right & left down there. They in the back, not going to take that risk

Some general advice on working a physically demanding job like humping tires:

The quickest way to ruin a trucking career is to get hurt!

My last 2 yrs in the industry I had to work with a work-related torn rotator cuff, left shoulder---was regularly using free weights & stretches to stay in shape, but still got injured trying to latch the top of a warped door on a 14' trailer on a cold, windy winter's day.

I learned to do 'the job' primarily with my dominant right arm after that. If it would have been my right shoulder, couldnt have shifted and my career would have been over!

I guess it would depend on what your average weekly pay came out to. .10 a tire? 90 for the whole trailer and extra pay for the stops. I dunno, I would like to see some figures first and it depends on hey you are supposed to unload them. When I did tires, I got paid an hourly wage with an LTL carrier and it was hard enough moving tires from the back of that little 20 foot trailer as compared to your 53 and all I had to do was roll them out the door. My customer had a worker who caught them after they hit the ground and rolled them to another worker to stack

I did this out of the Indy terminal. Money was good. Flat fee per trailer plus mileage plus stop pay. It is hard work, tight parking lots and sometimes lazy employees at the receiver. Take into account also that there are no loading docks and most parking lots have a slope, usually side to side or to the front of the trailer. Also knight expected me to stay at first stop the night before, which i wouldnt do.

    johnnyblaze1009 Thanks this.
