So, they send me off to Congers, NY from Alabama with lumber. And as I expected, they send me a load picking up garbage in NYC. They couldn't make up their minds. Load notes says no tarp requires, then it says tarp the load, then it says no tarp again. Anyhow, sent them a big fat NO. Been told a lot of things about the smell of the dang stuff to know better than to accept the load.

I've hauled that NYC garbage; not allowed to axle out either, as long as you're 80,000 or under, they don't care what the axle weight is, tough luck for the driver. At least that was the policy where I picked up. They were nice in Ohio where it unloaded, they sprayed perfume in the trailer.

Did you dispatch arrange for you to get the load? You don't get to approve it before you go over there?

Yeah I get final say so whether I take it or not. But now I got to convince them to send me to get shingles. They dont want to send me 152 miles though. Gonna have to wait till my dm comes back tomorrow though. he'll dh me 300 miles if he has to. Got a substitute today.

Stuck in traffic in NYC today next to a couple of garbage loaded flatbeds. The smell of the loads was almost imperceptible next to the stench of the city...

You have to tarp Dispatchers. They smell worse when wet.

The garbage wouldnt be bad if they didnt rear load it and slide the bags foward. Rips the bottom out of them. I hauled it once, that was it.
