LMAO That is really so true--when you first go out with a trainer--you see things happen differently! Fortunately--my father was from the old school so i kinda knew how to / how not to log--butt shh dont tell the log lady that! I normally tried to keep it legal though--had no reason to do it illegal--always waiting to be loaded/unloaded so it made no difference much!
How long did you spend on logs in School/Training for your CDL?

The real world..... -
Now guys, log it legal. Allow 2 hours to load and unload and have your truck towed to a truckstop if you are out of hours. Logging is so simple! Sorry logs, I could not resist!

Uh OH, I might have said something I shouldn't have? -
of course those were the old rules. which the basis of that still applies to these rules. its not a secret everybody knows it all it takes is a little math.
Its the difference in being taught by an actual trucker and being taught by a safty log book auditor . -
I didn't hear anything -
So I hope I understand you won't run illegal and will go by the 11,14 & 60/70 Hour rule> If not I wish you all the luck.
All I ask is if you end up in an accident and you end up in jail/losing your "career" due to running illegal is to post here and tell us about it. You don't have to say I was right or anything, but I want you to let "OTHER" drivers know if they run illegal their lives can change at "ANY SECOND".
Good LUCK! I hope I mis-understood your message -
So yeap you are right, if you went a walking and said I was walking because I wanted to enjoy myself, you could probably log it as off duty, however you would need to explain this to the company you work for
