I am a flatbedder by trade. I have worked for several companies but I have been with Central Oregon Truck Company since December of 2003. This company is not for everyone, we have our share of obstacles but all in all, it's been a real positive place for me to hang my hat. If you want to know what's really going on, send me an IM with your number and I'll be happy to give you a call. I've done my time with COTC, I know how the company works. It annoys me to see crap people post who've worked here a week or two!

Well, no it does't say that exactly.
The real deal is it's like any good eye catching advertising. The numbers they throw around on the web site show a potential income. The number they came up with does work in a perfect world that includes mileage plus monthly bonuses and tarp pay. But we all know how real world is. I don't necessarily agree with it. I thought they should be touting average earnings not the highest potential but it's their company. Many of the craigslist adds that they post out west for the Quad fleet have a $52K average earnings which is right on the money. I hit 51,500 for my first 12 months. They have drivers making in the mid $40K to $60K on Quads. It depends a lot on the driver and weather you like to stay out on weekends. They can put the miles in front of you if you can do it. I can't speak with direct knowledge of their semi fleet because I never ran semi's for them. I only ever ran on the NW Maxi or Quad side. The Quads were home every weekend and that was more important to me. I don't want to be a long haul driver. I tried it and didn't like living in a truck. The people in the office are genuinely good folks and do what they can do with in their control to make working for them a good experience. However it's still OTR transportation and you all know the nature of the beast sucks at times. For total disclosure I just left COT for another job, for no other reason than I was able to find a local job on a private fleet. COTC did what they could for me. I got home when I was supposed to and stayed as busy as I wanted. They would run me out of route just to get me home for the weekends. Longest one was 270 miles empty to be home for the weekend. If you live around any of the major highways of freight lanes in OR, WA, or ID I would certainly give a good recommendation to looking at their Quad fleet if your looking for decent earnings and good home time. Don't be shy about not having flatbed experience. If you have a few years behind the wheel, a good job history, and clean driving record including few or no CSA violations that goes a long way. Some depends on how many drivers with flatbed experience are applying at that moment in time, however they have trainers and a couple new T680's specifically for training in.Last edited: Jul 4, 2013
Weeble Kneeble Thanks this. -
Do they let you take the truck home? I live west of Salem Oregon. Some do some don't, just the way it is and that's fine.

Far as I know if a driver lives more than 50 miles from the Redmond yard then yes you take the truck home. I don't know how much freight they have going to and from the coast. I never made it west of I-5 often.

I go to Newport regularly, and have seen your trucks over there a few times in the last couple of months. Before May, I never saw them over there. Good sign I guess. Thanks. Maybe I will look into them next year.
