Hey agreen...
I grew up in Old New Castle, right on 2nd St. William Penn Class of 79.
Anyway, on to your question, I really can't add much to what emul posted. He is right in so may ways and this is something you will learn every day. I have been a pretty avid pool player through the years, one thing that has always held my interest is it is a game that one never truly masters, there is always a shot that comes up that you have never seen before. So you fall back on what you have done in similar situations and tailor it to the task at hand. If you have never seen anything like it before you end up with a poke and hope.
Driving a truck is similar in a lot of ways in that as soon as you think you have it all figured out a situation presents itself that has you scratching your head trying to figure out what to do. Poke and hope in a truck is not a good strategy.
You are not going to learn everything in those 8 weeks, but you will gain a firm foundation to build on. There is a business side to this as well as a driving side. How do you conduct yourself at the shippers and receivers, etc...
I will be home again at the end of July and if you are still on the fence I have no problem meeting up with you and your wife, maybe I can answer some questions, you both can take a look at the truck (I park it on Rt 40 between Northeast and Elkton) so she maybe has a better understanding of how you will be living etc.
Just let me know.

I am on the phone with her now and she goes "whats his name" and I told her idk the #### form said I have to post 7 messages and she said well want are you waiting on and I said for him to respond on top of talking to her and Tiffany "old lady" we aren't married yet going to be next year. But she said if I do go she is going to go some where so she can get help with the kids when I am gone.

Well, if it is going to cause family issues, think long and hard about it. OTR can be tough, but also it does not need to be forever. I have a friend back there that has been driving about a year and he is pulling containers out of the Port in Wilmington

Tiffany was saying when I leave she will go to a friends house to help her w. the kids since our lil ones are 3 yr and will be 4 next month and my son is turning 5 months in 3 days. She said it wasn't a bad thing.

As long as you can work it out... A CDL is worth a lot of money in the long run. Always ads for drivers even when the economy slows down. Lots of opportunity in the future.
