Please don't be mislead by my post. Yes, I do make very good money. But that same money and more is avaliable to ANY Watkins & Shepard OTR/Regional driver.

If you prefer to run OTR. Then do so. You can get with your FM and let them know you want to do multi-stop loads when avaliable. We have LOTS of them!!!

Just be carefull what you get, where it goes, and what the actual stop pay for that load is. THINK before you jump ;) If the regional drivers don't want it....there's a reason LOL

Additionally, our OTR drivers make very good money IMHO. When I stay out, I'm kept moving. Average sit time between loads, less than 4 hours. I've actually found myself looking forward to being able to sit and take a reset. Just to get a break longer than 10 hours.

hey all, yes we graduated!!! most are home for the weekend and going to get our trucks when we come back (taking time off was our choice). hey crenshaw... there is a mailbox by one of the entrance gates.. its a big metal old one.. should be an envelope in there with ur name on it giving u directions and instructions. Anyway we will update how our time is w/ W&S. The school in my opinion was like boot camp and I loved it.. They turned me into a truck driver. So informative and they really want you to be the best driver you can be.

    later!

Has it been a month already. Time flies out on the road. Seems like your school was in and out fast while I remember our class was there for an eternity.

We should have warned you not to go home first, but to start running right from the school. Our class had a heckuva time getting to our truck assignments.

You're going to find that all W/S drivers and employees are really helpful.

After being out on the road for a few days out of school the shop Manager called me on my cell phone just to make sure I was happy with my truck, that everything was working okay and he wanted to know if I had any questions about it or needed anything. I thought that was really cool. Then on my first payday, the payroll dept called me on my cell phone to see if I had any questions about my pay or anything to do with our trip envelopes etc. They really do go the extra mile to make sure you're not confused about anything and that you are happy here. I'm confident I made the right choice when I came to W/S and they prove it to me everyday.

How many 10 and 30 day students are going to be in the W/S class starting now. The last couple of classes have been large.

I got a 2007 Volvo right out of the 10-day class and I love it. Others were not as lucky as I was but I did have a couple months OTR experience too, so that may have played a factor.
I have not stopped running at my own request. I want to run 18 days at a time so I can be home 3 days (you get 1 day off for every six out). I'll actually only be out 17 days but they don't have a problem with me taking three days off.
If you want to be home more often than that you can. For example, if you just put a hometime request in after you've been on the road for 6 days and when you hit 12 days you'll get to go home for two. They really seem flexible in this department, if you want to go home for a day or two just let them know and they send you there, it's really that simple and they don't give you any crap at all about it.
