I quoted you, so I addressed it to you.

I have been to several fire trainings concerning this and actually seen it done. I personally do not trust seeing anyone with a cigarette at the pump, but I also have seen it not blow up.

I also said it can be done, so no disagreement there. I do not trust "the chance" of cigarettes & gas, either. I fail to see where we differ.
"Google it" was non-specific. Google what?
In fact, I did "google it" before even posting to verify my specifics (flash point, etc).

    Google cigarettes and gasoline fire.

I just shake my head. But then I shake it when I watch a fire department try to put out a gas fire with water too.

Of course, everybody pumps gasoline totally naked, with no clothing on, or never spills gas.

People who smoke would not light a cigarette while pumping gas...of course that never happens.

Using that logic , no gas motor has never "spark knocked" . This is when the air/ gas mixture explodes before the spark plug fires. Just the heat of the metal fires the mix. 98% of the time before the piston has reached top dead center. So the one piston is trying to push the crank back wards. Just one example of gas sparking with out a open spark. In what is now a sealed container. Yes I saw the myth busters show on it too. But this is one example most everyone here has " saw" first hand. And like road medic pointed out , the experts are dumping water one a gas fire. Not putting water on a " grease " fire is why almost all of us carry an ABC rated fire ex.

So, she deserves to get fired, if she is smoking on the gas pump. Which are always clearly marked NO SMOKING

Once saw a guy doing some work on his carburetor at the I25 rest area south of Santa Fe with a lit cigarette in his mouth . Didn't stick around to see any explosions.

Cigarettes don't burn hot enough to ignite American gasoline.

    Period.

This is not opinion. This is a matter of fact, of science, and is provable by both math and empirical evidence.

That said, it's still not a real bright idea, as inhaling gasoline vapors along with the nasty nasty disgusting smoke is supremely unhealthful.

So, if the gasoline is spilled on clothing, which then becomes a wick of sorts, it's not going to ignite from a lit cigarette or dropped hot ash?

Amazing everybody is just thinking 'fumes'.
