I met a guy who said he had been on the Mercer van division for 4 years and was happy.
I think he said they have around 400 trucks on that side. -

Any new news about Mercer van division

I have been pulling vans for Mercer for about 5 months now. I am still learning the system, I am not where I want to be, but I am doing OK. I dont want to put any numbers out there yet, but I have been very happy with the Mercer family, and that alone means alot to me. I know alot of you will say that the dollar is the bottom line, I just look at my bottom line a little differently.
Safe miles to you all,
LarryRunnin Thanks this. -
I would be interested to know how things are also. I pull tanks and thought about going to flats but i have no experience. I do like what I am reading about how mercer treats there people.

Mercer is a good company, they treat the contractors very well. But they need to come up with a way of lighting fires under some of these agents back sides, in my opinion some of these agents are really dropping the ball on going after good paying freight. As far as the van side of things goes, I don't look at the van loads on the board all that often, but when I do I just shake my head and wonder how anyone can make a decent living off that.

If they've got a bunch of timid agents content with the status quo on van rates I wouldn't waste my time. You've got to be able to shop everywhere and push really aggressive to make anything at all with a dry van.
