Well I'm 25 no kids I'm from nc but I'm staying in va a lil bit... My driving record and criminal record is good.. And far as the pay I've seen on usa truck website that you will be paid 350.00 a week until your training is up then when I become solo I will be making 600.00 a week until I move up.. I wouldn't have a problem being out away from home as long as I'm making good money.. If you can send me some pointers that would be great..

Unless you just have the "truck driving bug" real bad, I'd say make sure you've exhausted any other employment prospects that may exist where you live, and go into OTR truck driving as a last resort, regardless who you might go with.

There is A LOT of information to know before getting into this. I'm a student at a driving school, and I've been doing a lot of research for the last month and I still have plenty of questsions, and I know there's good companies I don't even know about, and companies I know about that I need to know more about. I suggest going through the different forums here and reading through the different topics. As for insight on different companies, check the inside scoops section that I'm linking here

What I suggest you try to decide on now is what route of education you want to do. Private institution/community college, or Company sponsered training school. You can find plenty of info on the pros and cons in this forum. Quick summation tho:
Private institution: Safe bet, takes longer, less risk, no indentured servitude, cost is on you
Company Training School: Fast, will loan you the money to go and most or all will reimburse some or all of your tuition while working for them, you have to work for said company for the contract amount of time or face steep penalties (maybe not get certificate of training or CDL). Namely, you will be the companies slave until your contract is up.
Key thing: This is a career and a lifestyle choice. Don't jump into the first company you heard about and said they'd take you, do some research. Otherwise you might end up stuck with Swift or CRE for two years even when there's nothing wrong with your record, lol. -
