What is the approximate cost to inflate 10 tires? I like the idea of the tires running cooler.and not having the air pressure fluctuate with the temperature.
Iron Pony, in your five years of driving please enlighten me, is this a proffessional reason to want to find out about nitrogen?
Nitrogen filled tires.

the cost is a good question, I know some companies add the nitrogen for free if you buy the tires from them but I havent seen nitrogen really advertised for truckers
-
Ive only really heard of it when it was first introduced, it was on a radio program. But havent heatd much since. I'll have to call around. If its not too bad I'll try it, worst case scenario it performs the same, best case I get more life from the tire.
-
they claim you get more life, better fuel mileage etc, on the mileage part I never noticed a difference with my personal car, who knows maybe in a truck you might get 0.1mpg higher....
-
I'm thinking you could use a manifold and vacuum pump, you wouldn't have to pull a lot of vacuum, just draw all of the air out....
-
If you want to pay for nitrogen, by all means go for it. Air is free. Check your tires during pretrip daily, and you'll get better wear out of your tires than by being lazy and doing it once every couple of weeks.

The avg tire loses 2 to 4lbs per month on average. Mine use less than two. Low rollling resistance tires are good for that.
So tell me big 5 year super trucker, how can I be super like you? -
No need to be snippy. Just like on the airplanes I flew. You do a preflight every time you go up. What happens if you loose a bead, and 50 pounds disappears out of your tire while you sleep? Wait two weeks? A month? Or until it blows out leaving you on the side of the road?

I use straight helium in all 18 tires I can haul 85,000 lbs but the dot scales will only read 80,000,,,, hey 5,000 lbs load after load, the $s adds up quick!!!!

That reminds me,,,,ive never been late for a load and one time my truck broke down and I was gunna be late ,so I called my girl friend and she brought my pickup over and I loaded all 820 cases of potatoes on my chevy extended cab 4x4 so could deliver on time!!!!
