Driver just called me the he said the truck will be pulling at say 1500 rpm, for a split second it will go to near idle and then pick right back up to 1500 rpm. I don't think it would be an injector issue would it? Any place you could point me to from experience would be appreciated. I do infact have CAT ET but I have to wait for the truck to get back to diagnose the problem. FWIW the truck does it both loaded and empty, but it seems to do it when its warm (200*) so i'm leaning towards electrical?
CAT 6nz - cuts out?

Tell him to set the cruze control and see if it still does it. If not then I would say throttle position sensor on the pedal.

had the same thing happen a while back ended up the crank sensor was going bad. (never threw a code) that split second of dead throttle is where it is switching to the cam sensor for backup timing. there is a graph on et that you can look at and see if there is any spikes for the tps sensor. if none I would say crank sensor or wiring going to it.

Had the same thing happen too, but it was wiring to the sensor, not the actual sensor. No codes, driver explained it like someone turned the key off then back on really quick, like a quick stutter. It did it 2-3 times a day. We messed with it 4 different Saturdays, with no codes, we were focusing on powers, ground and ignition power and foudn nothing, we even swapped ECM's from another truck. This past Saturday I cut some zip ties and pulled the harness out in the open and found a chaffed spot in the harness behind the compressor and 1 bare wire. Cracked up the harness and that wire was to the crank sensor. I called the driver before I went home today and this is the 1st day in a month that it didn't stutter on him.

Me too. Engine insulation rubbed the crank sensor wire.
joey8686 Thanks this. -
Thanks for the replies guys ! Put a new crank sensor in the wires looked good
