That's right, hold out for your dream job, as your first job. The Trucking industry will adjust to you. It's very flexible.

Unfortunately I would suggest driving for any company that will hire you and get at-least 1 year experience then move to a new company. That's really the only way, unless you can get on with a horrible company, but I wouldn't suggest that.

I'm wondering if you ever read any posts on this site about experience?

I mean having a CDL doesn't mean you get instant recognition by any company and get an instant job. IF you need a company, anyone that will employ you should be good enough and you can't be picky without any real experience and I don't mean a year or two.

I meant I didnt hear back from most of them...but the Swift/Prime CRE I stayed away from.
Its true that at this point my driving skills are back to step 1. I still might just buy a rig and do O/O but I am holding off a while. But overall glad to have got my CDL.

Buying a rig w/zero experience driving and within the industry while trying to do the o/o thing is usually a fast recipe for instant failure ... and maybe worse.

Unfortunately you may have missed your window. Having gone two months with no driving after obtaining your license is not good. Most companies want you within the first two weeks. There also maybe some info you're not telling us. Did you go to school or did you obtain your license yourself? If you opted to do it yourself therein may lie the problem. Most companies aren't going to touch you unless you go through an accredited school. Reason being is insurance. Actually if you decide to buy your own truck you are going to run into the same problem. It will be very tough finding someone to insure you and whoever does is going to rape your wallet!

If you are serious about driving professionally you need to slow down and do things the right way. As you are finding out, shortcuts aren't always worth it.

If you did go through the proper schooling maybe there is an issue with your license or background. Like I said, there is a lot of info missing here for us to be able to help you.

One more thing... you can't just wait for these companies to call you. Especially if you are wanting to work for one of those mega-carriers. They get thousands of calls a daily so getting back to you may fall to the wayside. I would recommend calling them daily to check on your application status.

If you want to give us some more info we can probably solve this problem a little better for you.

This. I've been speaking with recruiters on the phone. Most say if you've gone 2-3 months without any school or driving, you need to take a refresher course. If the company has a school you could do it with them. Also, courses are sometimes offered for free or a discounted rate for previous students at community colleges.
