Interested in how our healthcare works here at Roehl. Spent an hour on the phone with UHC this morning and still not entirely enlightened. Looking for some more practical answers in the real world.

I have a little bit of psoriasis/skin issue that treats out really well with an injection that they administer at the doctors office quarterly.

So my current dermatologist in Grand Rapids does not participate with UHC and I figure I'm national I'll just get one at the Marshfield Clinic. so I have an appointment with a doc in Marshfield in a few weeks and allegedly a $33 copay for office visit.

So I know I'm gonna pay the $33 copay but from talking with them I will have to pay the entire charge of everything until I hit the $1000 or whatever in network deductible. I'm just confused about the copay when it seems the insurance is really just a 75/25 plan after meeting the initial deductible.

also, how about you get sick someday, enuf to see a doctor...how has that worked out for you that have used it. any good tricks or method to the madness. any advice on Marshfield Clinic I have never been there but heard they are good.

thanks for your time if you can respond. goblue

Honestly would look into getting your own plan, probably get one cheaper with better coverage. I was charged almost $100 for a pnuemonia shot this year that had always been covered by prior insurance. I am looking for my own now.

Getting your own if not part of a group can be crazy expensive. I know a couple of retired folks paying over 1K a month just to be insured. Even though it's not the best ins, sometimes being part of a large group is best. I'm facing the same decision here soon. I need family coverage because the wife wants to find a diff job and right now she has our plan.

We have it where I work, it's plant wide, not just the trucking company.

I had a weasel policy from Wellmark BCBS for years from when I was farming, they were going to hit me with a big raise for coverage that paid less than this does so I dropped them. I called it a weasel policy because they weaseled out of everything that they could.

I need to do a few things with screenings, so I guess I'll have to call UHC some more in my case . So far, no real complaints.

[FONT=Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif]I am deciding which plan to go with as well. I shopped for private insurance which is cheaper for now but was told they raise the rates 5% per year min. Plus they can drop you from what I have heard or make it hard to get bills paid etc. "Weasel Plan

They could, but it would probably cost more than your weekly gross.:biggrin_25523:

I am going on the 7/7 which means my wife and I would pay $105.86 per week. That's $211.72 for the 7 days that I work then 7 off. Looks like your close! About 1/2 NET check if only driving @2200 miles in the 7 on. BUT, I am very excited to drive and not doing this to get rich. Love to drive and know that it's not all easy or fun all the time.

Roehl's insurance should be categorized as catastrophic! First plan I have ever had where "co-pay" means AFTER your deductible. With what drivers make, I'll be getting ObamaCare next year and dropping Roehl's insurance. Even if I pay a little more, I will get better insurance than this crap. IMO!

Is there anyone that has the insurance and works on the 7 on and 7 off schedule? Just curious to see what others have decided to do.
