I just received my pre hire and going to get my DOT physical next week. I will be getting my CDL through Roehl then after Phase III they are putting me in the Reefer 7 on 7 off fleet and just wanted to get others feedback. I need to decide if I want to stay with Reefer or switch to Dry Van before starting from what I have been told.
I really enjoy reading the threads here and would like to thank a few that I have been following like "THEOSU" and Ultra7 from O H I O!! and others like goblue, Technoroom, Bayle and treefork(before he moved on) and many others.

There is nothing good to be said about reefer. They are noisy, and worst of all it means you will be spending your time in food warehouses and you want to avoid them if at all possible. You will be doing a lot of overnight driving because a lot of food warehouses want their refrigerated deliveries very early in the morning, or even the middle of the night, and you will sit there for hours. Dry van all the way.

Roehl has dry van I thought they were only flatbed

With a handle like "SmokinBoles" I hope you can pass the whiz quiz!
Oh, and you will probably want reefer. -

Roehl has Curtainside, Dry Van, Reefer and Flatbed. They offer Regional along with National and several different HomeTime options. That's the main reason I chose Roehl. I wanted the 7on 7off.

LOL, SmokinBoles in the REEFER division. I can hear it now!
wyldhorses and Marky84 Thank this. -
For what it's worth, the availability of the HOMEtime PLUS options depends on where you live. On their driver recruitment website they have a "find a fleet" link where you enter your ZIP code and it will show you what's available in your area.

Used to be two guys on here who did reefer for Roehl, but they have moved on. If you were in WI, I would say go Reefer. Being that you are in OH, can't say what freight we have in OH for reefer. Either way, you are just starting, I say try Reefer. If you don't like it switch! You can always switch fleets, plus just because you are reefer doesn't mean you won't pull a van from time to time. By the way, SKATEBOARDERS rule!
SmokinBoles and technoroom Thank this.
