I went to FFE as a starter company i did my 6 weeks of training and 2 weeks out solo. I did good on my first load out. after i picked up my second load i missed my turn and then the gps routed me to a dirt road (big ########## mistake) i didnt take a curve wide enough got the trailer tires (passenger side) stuck in a ditch causing the load to be late. the tow bill for that was almost 500 bucks. during the time i waited on the tow truck to arrive i sent a message to my DM saying i didnt feel comfortable being out by myself. so he got me IC with another driver and then got me a load going back to the home terminal. and on this load i ran out of hours. i know this all boils down to trip planning but the trainer i had didnt explain it to me very throughly. after i got back to the terminal i was having some chest pains and i went and told safety about it. So i went home saw my regular doctor and a cardio doctor both of them couldnt find anything wrong with me. by the time i was ready to go back out on the road i was past my 30 day medical leave. I called up safety and they to get them a
doctors note and i did. i mentioned to them i was working a side job. safety told me that it is against company policy for an employee who is on medical leave to work another job which i think is total bull #####!!!!! so she told me to talk to the HR department so i did. They said since i failed to do anything (and communicate with them) to return to work during those 30 days or whatever that they were terminating my employment and putting down as i "vulontarly quit" The reason i waited is cause we had a CPS case on us cause we were living with my dad in a camper trailer and to make it worst is that he was smoking weed. so CPS advised us to find another place to live and so we did.

My question is this: based on what i said will this prevent me from getting another trucking job if i tried to go to another company that takes on student drivers or will they see me as a risk. i really dont want to put FFE down on my work history but they are the only ones i been with so far and i graduated from trucking school back in december 2012.

Probably not.. but you need to learn to not freely give out info.. Next job.. don't give anymore than what is asked..

Trucking companies are a-holes and you screwed up by relying on a GPS .They were probably looking for a reason to get rid of you after your wrong turn.. I suggest you take that GPS out of your truck get a road map and a phone.. Do it ole school for a few months.. I still do it that way.. I have a gps but it takes stupid routes and suggest dirt roads (on the trucker version) So I don't use it..

Well you technically completed your training period, and they're saying you voluntarily quit, so that's a big plus. But it never looks good to leave a company so early. I think you can definitely find a company that will hire you. Just do some research and start filling out applications to all the companies you like. See what happens. Good luck to you.

They are going to be on your dac so you have to use as reference. As for the rest it sounds like you have alot of baggage and if ffe used the tow as a preventable incident you are probably screwed.

This is true.... if they put it down as a preventable you are probably screwed.. Most companies send you a letter in the mail if the safety department determines it to be preventable..

I understand their policy. You went on medical leave and worked another job. Look at it from their perspective. They have to cover their butts. Good luck in your job search.

Take WorldofTransportation's excellent advice & NEVER give information that isn't asked for, and even then be careful. Don't mention the chest pains or the relative smoking weed or you won't be hired. Don't mention the CPS case or any child support or you will never be hired. When ever I quit a job I always say looking for better pay & benefits & sometimes maybe the company just wasn't a good fit. But I wouldn't go any further than that. Seems to me that you should move to another state and start over; you live in a camper trailer now, so it can't get much worse for a family man. What state do you live in; maybe some of us on this forum can point you in the right direction for a new job.
