Really he got 3 days On the Road training with Schneider, right out of trucking school, and yes he did want more, and I don't lie, no need to attack me about it because it is the truth. He was asking a question about training and I can tell how it was for us if I want its not trolling. Sorry if you dont like it but oh well.

Well when your talking to someone who is a member of the training academy and knows how it works you can maybe see my skepticism. I want to know exactly who told your son that he could not have more training.

WHen hes there a year, Ill let you shake his hand right now hes keeping his nose clean and doing his job as best he can with them 3 days training he got and actually he really liked his trainer said he was awesome, so not like Im gunna get him in trouble. I just want things to improve and have some kind of requirement time for On the Road training there.

Okay, so his trainer said no? Your son had to sign the evaluation sheet too. If he wasn't ready then why did he sign. The student and the TE both have to sign. Sorry, but I am not buying it.

So if some young kid right out of truck school, you take out for 3 days, is really good kid (smart) and does quite well ya gunna put him in a truck after 3 days On the road? Have you done that before?

    Done it in five before.

If he is safe and can drive and can use his head what more is there? It would take months for him to be a seasoned driver. Nobody wants to stay on a trainer truck for that long. Will he make mistakes? Sure he will, but lady I still make mistakes. If he is a proficient driver then his mistakes will be the "not bad" ones. If he knows how to drive, then what more do you want. By the end of a week most of the time I am just sitting over there twittling my thumbs and trying not to fall asleep. The driver is good to go.

Well 5 would of been better not much but better. I think should be a rule of 2 weeks personally for kids right out of trucking school. I mean really how much could ya learn in 3 days? I think Schneider would be a good job if you have had experience but until they regulate some kind of required OTR training time its just not safe, not for him not for anyone on the highway around him.

And how many drivers have you trained? When the answer is more than zero I might start listening.

You train for them and Im bettin you make good money doing it, why not send them newbies right out of school out 1 week with someone and 1 more week with someone else, you make good money while training and schnieder helps make Americas highways more safe with their high standands= Now wouldnt that be sweet. OR even better have a team of trainers say you train 3 days another guy 3 days and another guy 3 days, that way student gets wide range of training and ya don't have to be stuck in truck too long with the same person lol them are close quarters lol Im sure its not too fun and kinda scary to train newbies.

Worried Mom - you need to step back, take a deep breath, and relax. Spreading vitriol will not help your son or others like him.

As I've said before your beef is with the school who gave you son his CDL. The CDL school is supposed to teach a person to drive. A company is supposed to train a new employee in company policy and the specfics of the equipment they will be using. If you want to talk about mandatory minimums for obtaining a CDL we can talk. Mandating time with a trainer AFTER getting a CDL is ridiculous.

Also your son did not have 3 days of training. He had 5 days on the range and driving on city streets, 3 days on the road with a TE, and at least 4 days in the classroom covering trip planning, dispatch, and other 'soft' skills before PASSING his final test. If he wasn't comfortable with the amount of training he could have asked for more. When he left Orientation your son had the phone number to: his DBL; his Regional Training Adviser (who is available to help with trip planning or other procedural questions); and his TE. He aslo has "The Highway to Success" manual which covers company policy for almost every situation he's likely to come across. Every time he stops by an OC he can go and talk with an OSR with questions, or if he sees another SNI driver he can ask questions (particularly if there is a "TE Shield" on the truck).

Your son has the tools he needs to be sucsessful. You need to cut the apron strings and let your son go.
