Store ambassador is something else drivers do here. I am not one. But I do the ability to let the ambassador know if the store has stuff in the way or pallets, trashy, or even good things about them.

Oh... I didn't know... thought Ambassador was how any Walmart driver was called. What is it exactly that Store ambassador drivers do?

Basically you volunteer for a bunch of stores and coordinate with the mangers to address issues drivers may have with the stores. Kind of a go between of the DC and the stores.

Hearty congrats on the new job !!! As my roommate said to me, when I saw him the other day, "We are Wally drivers, man!!!"

I have 6 months on you. Believe me, you will still be wondering if this is all real, 6 months from now. I know I do. Just wait until you get your first safety bonus. :)

For those still waiting for their last call, be patient. It is different at all DC's. From application to start date for me, was just shy of 4 months. There were 2 separate hiring batches, and I was in the second. Over 1000 applications, and I was one of 8-10 hired (am not sure, as I don't know the exact numbers on the first batch). There were 16 interviewed in my batch, and 5 hired.

Also, if you need mentoring for more than 1 week, you can request that. I didn't do it, but I know a couple did. If you have worked with a computerized system, it is easier for you to pick up. I did not. My last job was paper logs, and all that that entails. Once you are on your own, just take your time and be safe.............. the money will come. Also, learn to travel light. This makes the slip seating much easier. The time it will take you to get your own truck will vary from DC to DC, but most are working hard to give you a truck for your whole week. I have noticed a difference. I have also taken my son with me 2 separate weeks since I have been here. He has really enjoyed it (he is 11).

Those who wonder if this is for them, just think this.................. are you a team player?? Do you strive to be the best, and want to be recognized for it?? Do you want to be treated with respect all the time, and do the same for others. Do you understand why a huge company with a bullseye on their back, has certain rules?? If so, this will be the best truck driving job you will ever have. I still pinch myself, and every time the transportation manager asks me how I'm doing.............. if I'm happy................ if there is anything that I need to talk about.............. and tells me I am doing a great job for them................. I pinch myself again. If you haven't worked here, you can't imagine. Just don't let the bitter ones cloud your goals. They are everywhere. They have just forgotten what they came from. Feel sad for them.

Well it has been a month since I have started at Wal~mart. Couldn't be happier! I should have looked into hiring on with them when I first moved to Texas. My weekly miles have averaged 2200-1900, the lower being this past week. It all depends on how long I have a truck for. For 2-3 days, they keep me close to Houston, but very busy. If I get one for a week, then they kick me out of town for a day or two. Pretty much working about 12-14 hours a day. EASY work. No pressure. No such thing as a "HOT" load here. Just relax, do my job, drive the truck safely and go home happy! One thing is for sure, if there is a Wal~mart, Super Wal~mart, Neighborhood Market in a town I have never been too, I will see it at some point. Nice to go to places that you never heard of and get to see these little towns, or big cities. Just can't say it enough...........I love my career as a Private Fleet Driver for Wal~mart Transportation!

Dont think you have to worry about washington DC ? $8.25 an hour isnt going to fly in that part of the map

This has nothing to do with me and where I travel. I feel sorry for the residents of the DC area. Yes I feel the wages for employees should be higher in higher expense areas. I don't think the DC area should impose a bill that says you have to pay higher wages per you sales size and square footage.

What point are you trying to prove? Every knows that the store side does not compansate well.
