There's not ONE bedbugger that can operate legally anymore with the new H.O.S. JUST the loading and unloading take up your entire day!!!! Ppwk,then folding your pads, organizing your trailer,load you might be able to drive 200 miles after that. Their going to have to "regroup" the driver is so tired even BEFORE they get behind the wheel! Driving is a very small part of the job! It's certainly the easiest part. Poor bugger was so young and probably believed there was actually still money in that industry. But the more experienced bedbuggers are dropping out like flies,so there's no other way for agents to keep going without regrouping. I feel bad for all involved,sad sad situation.

Sad story. I think the supervisors or management should be held equally responsible and get the same penalty's in cases like this. 95% of the time somebody bullies the driver to work that long and tells them this or that will happen if you don't do it.

One of the things they don't teach you in school is how to just say no.
But its sad because when the driver says no and is fired there is no where for them to turn. Meanwhile the carriers are allowed to lie on the driver DAC. Sure you can get it taken off but so much damage is done in the meantime.Charli Girl Thanks this. -
yeah DAC is a joke....it ended up being more a tool for a carrier to be vindictive more than anything

Yes but household moves are not time sensitive loads. You can pretty much tell the person moving "it will get when it will get there." Meaning they can get their 10 hour break after loading.
This guy got super lucky as the Chicago driver who killed several people in Nebraska is sitting in jail on multiple vehicular homicide charges. -
You have to remember,there's not just one family on that trailer..I've had as many as 10 different families on at one time. And right now is "peak season" so it's definitely time sensitive to say the least. Then you always have one that can't get into their new house bc closing was pushed back,blahblahblah... And at that point all is pushed back including your reloads.May- Sept is run run run,trust me. And when that happens pack days are pushed,it's just chaos when anything goes wrong.
I WISH you could've told them "it'll get there when it gets there" but that's not the case. It's alot of work and you are pushed to the extreme in that industry during peak season. But in winter time ALOT of us would take the winter off.
Thats the ONLY thing I miss about HHG.

Bottom line, nobody put a gun to this drivers head and told him Drive, its all about decisions. I think he was too young to call the company and tell them "you want the truck moved , then move it" He is going to pay the price for his inexperience, the Troopers family already paid the ultimate price.

You are so right!! We've all done it for one reason or another,I think that's why we have empathy for the driver. Also the victim. Gone are the days of "bootleg driving". I'm not going over one second anymore ,just too much at stake!peterd and Marksteven Thank this.
