I understand that but a lot of people don't know that you don't have to go through some companies cdl school to get your license.
I don't get why anyone would not have it before starting to find employment.

If the truck is parked at a mom & pop type truck stop, be sure they know it's there and be sure to buy fuel from them. -
I park at the walmart down the street, they have a fat old man that runs around in a security car. never had any problems with loads there

Going to a company sponsored cdl school is a bad idea. Most CDL schools cost around 3000 and offer financing to you. Companies liek TMC will give you 75-100 a month to pay back your school investment.
If you go to a company sponcered school like ROeh, they pay for the school as long as you stay with them for a year. (length depends on contract you sign). They out a value of 6000-9000 dollarson their school and will charge you this if you quit, or drop out before the year is up. Now since they make 6000+ if you leave, they dont care if you get trained or learn. Once you start they know it cost you 6000+ to quit, so they can treat you horrible and give you bad loads and there is nothing you can do.
Now, if you get your CDL on your own, you can work for a lot more companies. I they treat you bad you can jump ship. If you decide trucking is not for you, your only out 3000, not 6000+. With financing, the end result is the same. Paying for it yourself gives you a lot of leverage with whoever you work for, and protects you. I know you asked about parking but I wanted to recommend against company CDL training since you mentioned it. Once you have your CDL the company you sign on with will still train you, but they pay you during this training and you can quit when ever you want without penalty. -

In MN there is a place that you can rent a truck. Its basically a Chev Kodiak with air brakes and a trailer. The rental fee includes a lesson in driving and pretrip. Its right around $400.
Maybe there is something like that in Iowa?? -
