There are loads of driving opportunities right now. It's a great time to be a truck driver in my ever so humble opinion ;-)

My local CL had no less than 17 posted help wanted listings. Most were OTR and regional, however, there were some listings for local.

Yeah and a lot of the local jobs aren't even listed, a lot of companies want guys that are willing to seek them out rather than just surfing the web and CL.
One of the guys I was working nights with at Walsh just landed a dump truck gig making $23 an hour with overtime after 40.
He said they work 5 days 12 hours on average.
I'm keeping in touch, might be something I'd be interested in at some point, he knew someone working there and that was a great help getting his foot in the door, now I know someone working there.

A lot of that depends on where home is, I love my place out here in the woods on a dead end road with a mountain view and a steelhead stream within walking distance.
20 minutes to a 4000 acre lake for my boat,10 miles to the national forest for whatever, it's nicer here than most campgrounds.
Now if I had to live in an apartment (or even a house) in the city, well I guess I'd just as soon stay in the truck.

so i got a call from one of the places I sent my resume into, shes a recruiter for the company, but said she wasn't allowed to disclose the companys name or anything unless the applicant was qualified and stuff. its some kinda food service company, home just about every night, sometimes will be asked to be out for one night and if so will have to stay in a hotel cause its day cabs, 2 nights at the most but thats not very often. sometimes might be asked to work the weekend but again not often. they have positions that you can be on the road for a few days but those are only for the senior guys. starts off about mid 50 to 60k, lots of physical work, lift gate and ramp/dolly. going in tomorrow morning, my pickup window is till 2pm so I can squeeze it in lol. and my current company is sending me toward lebanon to pick up a new 2014 freightliner lol... when i get there i might just be turning in my truck for good.

    none of the above
had the interview this morning, shes just a recruiter, i guess like contracted to places or a headhunter.. what ever you call em, she just finds people and puts them with companies and then i guess gets paid per person by each company. so filled out an actual app, she went over the position and all that stuff. asked if I had any questions and that was about it. said it would be like 24-48 hrs before she got all my stuff and then once everything is reviewed if Its all good then set up an interview with the actual company.

after seeing all the places hiring lately, and what they 'say' they are paying, I went to my statements and kinda calculated how much I would be making after a year, if things go as they have been going and I just shook my head at how Im out all week and even tho I came here to be home on weekends Im usually out on sat and sunday too and these places are paying almost DOUBLE what I make and having their drivers home daily and weekends off.
