Would you recommend them to a beginner? Are they as nice and good as their recruiters claim?
What kind of loads do they carry? Is there a lot of "hand bombing" involved? Are the managers
friendly and professional? I've got thousand more questions but if you answer these ones
I would get a good idea. Thank you. -
Hey there sorry for the late reply. Yes, I would recommend Kriska as a company for a new guy just starting out. They are a good company. I drove for them for 6 months and in that time I didn't have any complaints about the lanes, equipment or business itself. As for loads they carry, its all dry van and reefer loads. I'm not going to tell everyone who they haul for, but they have a lot of contracts and don't really slow down much during the year. I didn't have to hand-bomb any time when I was there, but a few people I worked with had to a few times in their time there. Its not as if its "by hand" you have a cart to move things with or if your forklift trained maybe even a forklift if your lucky, but those loads are few and far between and usually will include a driver assist (another driver will come to help you if in the area). The managers are for the most part friendly, the dispatchers were all pretty good, typical dispatcher stuff. Never overly pushy and didn't encourage you to do anything illegal.
If you want more info, ask away.oldshatterhand Thanks this. -
I hope I am not bothering you too much with my silly questions ... -
They always ask you that question, YES you are going to end up driving at night to make a delivery, but it's not an all the time thing. I only drove twice through the night. All my other runs I basically ran how I wanted, and went from 7am-9pm kinda thing. Almost every night I was in my bed watching a movie by 7-8pm.
Yes as you only run 4-6 days at a time usually with Kriska, you never have to take your reset out on the road. Since they pride themselves on home-time and family life, they give you a 48 hour reset so you get 2 full days off before you head out again.
No bother at all, that's what we are here for, to help everyone out and give the knowledge we have.oldshatterhand Thanks this.
