Get all the cards you can. Once get your own truck those points add up. Running 5000 a week plus the reefer fuel I was getting 1000 or more points a month.

That is what worries me because if i haul an over weight load, that is my butt, illegal? right? so a company can fire me for that? will it be hard to get hired to another company because of that?

If it is overweight don't haul it. Simple as that. If your dispatcher won't understand then you get a hold of your safety department and let them in on it. If that don't work, I pack up and leave.

Well, If your skills are half as good as your attitude you should do fine. As for exercise, you may not get much till you get your own truck, but stretching daily is highly recommended and gets the blood flowing. depending on the size of sleeper you may be able to do some squats, lunges, crunches and push ups in the cab, and whenever possible do some walking or jogging. most importantly try to eat healthy. It's easier to cut out 500 calories than to burn it off behind the wheel.

ok, whew, lol.......im glad i read those words, because i hear of the pressure that drivers deal with. I dont overstand how there is not a law or regulation on companies who want to run you illegal as far as weight. i mean, when the driver picks up the load, the weight should be correct, instead of the driver being overweight and have to waste time changing tandems or worry about burning feul. but like my title says, "rookie right here"...lol

Don't be surprised when you pick up a load that's over weight and can't be scaled and have to go back to the shipper to get some freight taken off. happens all the time.
