Hey Trucking Popeye!
Are you still with Swift???
My husband just started at the Columbus terminal. He is currently driving in the intermodal division. We are really concerned. He picked up his first load from Chicago on Saturday 8 hours later than he was told it would be ready. Then he delivered it to Columbus on Monday. He is just now picking up his next load, a day and a half later!!!
Is this what you meant by starting off slow??? He needs to be getting miles and making money? Should he consider a different division? Which division are you in?
Thanks for any insight you can give us!!! -
I have heard that delays like that are not uncommon within the intermodel division. Again - that is what I have HEARD and I have no first hand experience within that division.
I run OTR and get home every other weekend. Back in April I decided to get my own truck and I am currently a Lease-Operator and a mentor.
I will say that you cannot base an opinion on what happens in a short time frame situation. Give it a month or so before making a decision regarding switching divisions. I have trained students that are running all different divisions and they are doing well. Most of them have either run OTR or Walmart dedicated.
I hope that my answer provides you with some comfort. Please feel free to contact me if you have any other questions.

So what did you do in the Navy Popeye? I was in for 4 years 99' - 03' , I was a Damage Controlman on the USS Port Royal out of Pearl. I laughed when I read your first post about being able adapt to living in a truck after having been in the Navy..isn't that the #### truth lol nothing compares to that lifestyle..I did 3 west pacs in 4 years. I think im ready for pretty much anything driving OTR can throw at me.

EWSN - EW1(SW) 1983-1989 most of it on the USS Stark (FFG-31). The Navy certainly prepared me for being away from home.

Since we are on the subject ... ET1, 1973-1981 USS Dahlgren DLG 12, USS Saratoga CV 60 and NAS Lemoore.
