I'm about to start driving the grave yard shift while my partner I've been assigned drives the day shift. I have only drove by myself during the day so this will be something new for me. They are also changing my truck from a Volvo 780 to a Cascadia. Will I get annoyed having someone else in the truck with me? How does the night life compare to the day? And will I like being in the Cascadia compared to the 780??

I prefer night driving; less traffic and don't deal with the glare of the sun. You probably will get annoyed, especially if he doesn't like the same radio stations you do. If he starts getting on your nerves, about an hour before your shift each night, eat a couple big bowls of chile, heavy on the beans.

I love night driving also, but prefer to be heading West when the sun comes up. It's peaceful, with a thermos of hot coffee and listening to Bill Mack truckin radio XM Satellite Radio.

Personally I like either driving into the night, or out of it, but not both... I would rather start around 3 am and end my day early... this week however I am pretty much stuck driving the night shift.

I like to see the passing countryside, it all looks the same at night.

Not a fan of teaming either, good luck, I would have more trouble getting used to that than night work.

I prefer nights, ill take deer and the occasional drunk over the multitude of solar powered drivers during the day.

Count me as one who'd take the night over the day also, especially when you know your location from previous trips. ( Can be harder finding places at night once your off the interstate IMO) But there is way less stupid 4 wheeler tricks, construction delays and backups, etc. Take your time until you get used to it and get plenty of rest before hand. (hopefully you can sleep in a moving truck) Good luck and you'll be fine!
