I'm confused as to what each of these specific records are for, what they each show, and which ones companies look more or less at (or in other words, which one could get you in more of a hard place). For example, say you scraped a trailer and did minor damage in a company yard. No others involved besides you and your company. Where does that go? How do companies view that? Then say for example you rear-ended somebody and caused a good chunk of damage to their vehicle, police report had to be taken and all that. Where does that go? I'm just trying to make sense of the record keeping process and how each effects me. Also, how would you go about checking any of these reports?

DAC is a private referral service used mostly by large carriers .
MVR tickets don't go on your CSA unless there is also an inspection done by a CVSA qualified officer . Nothing on private property should go on your MVR or CSA but may go on your DAC . Another thing often recorded on a DAC is abandonment .
A motor vehicle violation doesn't receive points until you are convicted in court . There is a chance charges can be reduced or dismissed before the court date . CSA points are assigned at the time of citation and are very difficult to contest .

It seems that DAC's are used by companies in a form of punishment. I have never seen one since the companies I worked for did not use them. However, judging by all the feedback here on this site if you have any negative information on your DAC you should make a statement and disagree with the entry. There's a lot of drives that come on here and tell horrifying stories about how a company has gone out of their way to list very negative comments on their DAC. When they find out it's too late to do anything about it. They usually find out when they go to other companies for work and are turned down from the company they are at. A typical scenario is when they bump another truck in a truck stop. They report and the company safety office tell them to be careful and go on. Then it may happen again or some other small trivial incident happens and they let the driver go. That's when the driver finds out he's had two preventable accidents. The DAC will paint a picture of a driver much worse than it really is. So if any of this kind of stuff has happened to you it's best to get a copy of your DAC and keep on top of it so the company can not slide some derogatory in on you. The other reports are run by a regulatory agency.

DAC, the company bad mouths you, generated by trucking companies
MVR, the state bad mouths you, generated by any police agency writing you a ticket
CSA, the DOT bad mouths you, generated by any qualified DOT leo writing you an inspection report. Many times a ticket comes with it and that part goes to MVR so you might have one offense go two directions. Three if the company documents it.

DAC you get one free copy a year... http://www.hireright.com/Consumers-Applicants.aspx

MVR, google your states DMV and there should be a link or instructions on your MVR. Some you can order online and some you have to go to the DMV in person.

    CSA... http://www.psp.fmcsa.dot.gov/Pages/default.aspx

Also if you get a traffic ticket written up during the inspection if the traffic judge dismisses the charge it will stay on the CSA .

If the citation I acquired while in my commercial motor vehicle is thrown out in court, can I get the roadside inspection violation that resulted from the same behavior from the same incident removed from my Safety Measurement System (SMS) record? If so, how?Back

    A. Reviews of violations that are adjudicated in the State court systems do not automatically result in a change to Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA)-released data. In order to have a violation removed from the SMS record, a motor carrier or driver must file a request for data correction review in the DataQs system. When a request for data correction review is made through the DataQs system and the request is granted, the organization responsible for the data makes the appropriate changes. The record is then updated in the SMS during the next monthly run of the measurement system. However, users may only use the DataQs system to request a data review on data used by FMCSA.

I knew that but whoever made the charge during the inspection can still make it stick and not remove it . Plenty of charges get dismissed in traffic court . That doesn't prove they didn't happen .

DAC would probably beat MVR but CSA will more than likely get the best of DAC and in a fair fight MVR will beat CSA....

    In other words;

Paper covers Rock, but Rock breaks Scissors & Scissors cut Paper...

Uh, that's what you asked right???

DAC is for anything you do at the company
PSP is for roadside/scale-house inspections and crashes(wether your at fault or not).
MVR is for your personal vehicle, non CM

HireRight.com will send you a free dac report once a year, it will contain all the information regarding companies you worked for, if you can get rehired, any violation at said company, drug tests addresses and so on...

http://www.psp.fmcsa.dot.gov/Pages/default.aspx will send you a copy of your psp for $10

You can get a copy of your MVR at your local DMV office
