Just purchased a 94 KW with a very late model 4CK cat engine, well maintained PEEK engine, 460 HP, 550K on Cat inframe. 14.7L, 3406 C motor. Clean oil, rig dig and ecm reports. The C was only manufactured for 2 years, 1992 & 1993, the last of the PEEKS. they produced almost 25k. Mine is 23,723. then the Es came out in 1994. Ds never made it off the drawing board, What would have been an F is a C15, which is also a 14.7L. Except the 15.8L or C16 600 to 625 HP. The early PEEKS 1986 to 1992 where 3406B, also 14.7L. The A, B, C, E, & C15 all have the same bore and stroke. The C 16 has a bigger bore. The 4CK has a steel piston and a wider rod bearing than the A & B cats.

Just wanting to know what to watch for, thanks.

Not all C models had the wide rods, 12 point head bolts are usually a good indication that they are wide rods. The turbo lag on the 4CK engines can be corrected by making the ECM think it has 2 to 3 pounds of boost at idle. other than that treat it like any other CAT keep a tight overhead make sure the timing advance working properly and you should get good service. I do have a complete 4CK that a customer had me take out due to a knock, it was just a timing problem but he was hot to put a 1LW E in its place which was a pretty easy swap.

My 359 had the hood and radiator wiped out by a intoxicated Falcon FB driver on May 17th and I purchased the 94 so I can go back to work. It has a great, clean running 7FB 350 economy with a 13sp direct that I could swap for fuel milaage. The 4CK is a 12 point head bolt. It can be converted to manual, but I would need to find a late model mechanical B pump.

Is the PEEK pump giving trouble, or would you just rather have the manual pump. I have got a lot of folks happy with their peek if they have a little patience and let me tune it. But I made a bunch happy by building them a mechanical pump and putting it on and tuning it as well and the peek stuff no one keeps there were so few and even fewer that haven't been converted. That 7FB 350 was bout the best all arund 3406 in my opinion if you decide not to keep it I would be interested

Just starting to get the 94 ready, wont know for a few thousand
miles what I have. Drove it back 500 miles from Ga, did an oil sample, soot was 9 on 13K miles, so far its encouraging.

Sounds like you got a good start so many wanna pour fuel into the combustion chamber and not give it any air without a dyno oil and fuel sampling are your next most valuable tool.

Not all C's where Peec engines. The C's were available as straight mechanical engines all the way up until 1997. Your injection pump can be converted to mechanical. There is no need to find a replacement if you choose to go that route.

True as matter of fact the mechanical C is more common than the peek. The timing advance is bulkier on a c than a B I just never was a fan of converting the peek pump. Replacement with a factory manual pump works better. And yes the manual c pump is a little better than the B pump. Lots of stuff looks the same to the naked eye but you gotta be on top your game you go to mix matching paarts u can end up with a fuel drinking no pulling piece or you may get a real stump puller I don't like guessing the outcome I usually kknow
