Being IC means it is your business, your responsibility. So if you calculate the risk or the effort to do it and it's not for you then cool that is why I talk about it on here so others can see what it's like for this driver.

But I also will add that if you do some simple management you will probably debunk a lot of your worries and then be able to succeed beyond what you think you can do with this opportunity.

One example why I went with a new truck (slightly used) with warranty is because right out the gate I want to run long and as much as possible to bank a reserve so if something should happen I got my butt covered. Which I have done in my first 5 months. 2nd management technique if you want time off, plan for it, buy it! It is your business, pay for your vacation in advance. SFI will deduct whatever amount extra you want to pay on your truck. ie .. if I pay $100 extra every week on my truck I just bought myself 5 weeks off a year.. pretty easily too.. When the time comes for your vacation just call and ask to take a bi-week on your extra money you paid.

Again it is your business you can pretty much make it work how you want with-in the basic confines of the industry! If you live in good freight lane areas more than likely you can still make good money and get home every week if you want. Certainly it is not for everyone but I do believe if you really want to do it and are open minded you can do well.

Made it to Wilcox AZ. Will make delivery in Cali late afternoon tomorrow. I then have 2 short loads to do Friday in southern CA.

Wouldn't you know it! The long load I had going to Auburn WA got changed from an open window pick up to an "at appt" live load at 11am and I wasn't going to make it in time so they had to take it off me. But I pretty quickly found another load that pays about the same heading back to TX :biggrin_25520: Round and Round! Any buddy RAT fans? Rock band from the 80's : )

Going back and forth, TX to Cali Cali to Tx, I don't mine though. It's all good! An easy drive and fuel is cheaper along this route (not in CA but in the other states it is).

probably the best way to go....lower payment with a lower residual...

Here is the one lear lease....looking at 10.25 %

If you don't mind or you can PM me....send me the 3 year payment and residual and I will figure the interest rate....

Yeah you can do 1 yr , 3 yr or 5 yr.. I felt the 3 yr was better way for my personally b/c of like you said lower payment with lower residual and plus not locking you in to a long term deal.. I have learned that you don't know what tomorrow can bring and this industries has its ups and downs. I feel SNI will always be around but price of freight can change all the time.. That is my personal reason of not locking down a 5 yr deal.. just food for thought
