Just to be on the safe side, it would not be a bad idea for every trucking company in the United States of America to do both types of drug testing, hair follicle and urine testing, on each and every truck driver, as frequently as possible. This will really help the trucking industry to stay clean. If a professional truck driver has any illegal drugs in his or her system, he or she needs to be pulled off the road, along with having his or her CDL taken away anywhere from a few years to life, depending upon the situation and its severity.

The same principle could apply to alcohol as well. If a professional truck driver, while on duty, (driving or not driving), has any alcohol in his or her system, he or she needs to be pulled off the road, along with having his or her CDL taken away anywhere from a few years to life, depending upon the situation and its severity.

When it comes to drugs or alcohol, U.S. military standards should be applied for the safety of both the truck driver and the public as well. In fact, these standards should be applied to all other professional drivers as well: OTR and intercity bus drivers, straight truck / class B drivers, along with non-CDL drivers as limousine drivers, taxicab drivers, and all other delivery drivers using vans or cars.

God bless every American and their families! God bless the U.S.A.!

Just to clarify, I had said "while on duty, (driving or not driving)," in reference to alcohol.

God bless you and your family! God bless the U.S.A.!

    I fixed it for you.

Honestly we need a more stringent program, one that does testing that goes back a year or maybe two to get rid of these drivers who even thought of using drugs. :)

Get involved in a fatal accident and see what happens. When I had my accident,(I wasn't at fault, car crossed the centerline and ran straight into me.), I was taken to the hospital, 15 minutes after arriving, 2 police officers were there to inform me that it was a fatal accident and they needed to take drug and breathalyzer tests, both which were clean. So go ahead, smoke, drink, whatever and get behind the wheel, but if you're involved in a wreck and end up in jail, don't come on here crying about it. As far as I'm concerned, if a non commercial vehicle strikes a commercial vehicle, they should have to be drug and alcohol tested also.
