Owner Operator Mistakes and Do-Overs

I'm a heathen, get over it. Thunder transport, Corpus Christi, Tx. My unit is 001.

 

1. Buy cheap recaps for trailer to save money - blow them out and buy a used tire from Loves/TA - expensive lesson
2. Do well, buy second truck, hire friend to drive, find out he has a gambling problem and isn't afraid to put your money on the table
3. Buy an 09 KW with a Cat, have regen issues, barely get 5mpg
4. Buy used fleet reefer, assume they have a maintenance program, find out different
5. Buy new Volvo from out of town dealer after local dealer treats you like dirt. Realize too late you're gonna have to deal with local dirtbags regularly for warranty work on new "reliable" truck

I'm laughing at myself. Good thread. It's truly amazing anyone makes money in this business with all the pitfalls!
