When I first started driving 18 years ago, I used to go to this supermarket warehouse in NJ. I think it was for Shop Rite stores. There was the nastiest black dude that would snatch your paperwork out of your hands then slam his little window shut. What a c u n t he was.

The best part was when he would give a driver his paperwork back - usually after making him stand there for 5 minutes - and some of the drivers would open up the window and say " Have a nice day!!" and the guy would go absolutely ballistic. :biggrin_2559: :biggrin_2559: Can you imagine if we tried that with any receiver or office personnel? :biggrin_25523:

Waiting does suck no matter what you haul. But being pissy about it only makes it worse. They'll even be slower not to mention have a good stern talk with your company and a good way to lose a customer.Of course your 2 yr old daughter is far more important but customers don't see it that way.IT'S ALL ABOUT THEM.

So let's see if I read this right.
He gets to his customer on a holiday. Lucky they are open
Finds some one who tells him where to park.
Then is told to un chain and untarp.
Lunch time comes and they take off.. Ok not knowing it's their break time. Look at your clock, that might tell you they are at lunch..
Some places have set times for breaks, no execptions. That's their rules and it's their play ground.
So he was wanting to blow his horn to get some one's attention.. Good way to get kicked out. Try telling that one to your boss.

Not a full crew working so they may have other things to do before you showed up with your all mighty I need to get unloaded and get home thinking..

Good thing they did'nt have a second shift working because if you pulled that with me you would of been there all day waiting.
Would of found other things that needed to be done before we got to you..

If I wanted to get home and had to wait and wait to get unloaded which has happened quite a few times in my carreer by the way,im going to just sit there and wait.Do you get any results being angry about it,no you do not.The words most commonly used in trucking is patience, flexible, compromising, productive and communicatiion.Did I mention patience, that word is used the most.

could not have said it any better myself.the only thing I will add is when he bring up the point that my two-year-old the sitting there waiting for me. You're telling this to a guy that isn't at home either because he's at work.

The way some of you drivers are whining on the maverick boards. It sounds to me that some of you boys need to grow some. There's so much whining going on I swear it must be a sewing circle.

Next, time I am in Wisconsin I will make sure I pickup some cheese to go with all your whining.

Yeah Man.... An hour is really not too bad. I was in the door up in Carol Stream yesterday morning (Friday July 5) and it was over 3 hours before they STARTED unloading me. 4 hours after I arrived, I was ready to roll out. Was I pissed?? Heck yeah! But nothing I could do about it. Welcome to the industry... unfortunately, this happens. But, I feel your pain LOL. :biggrin_25523:

Wow! I honestly had no idea that this would be such a contentious issue. So clearly the consensus is that blowing the horn is a bad idea. Point taken. I don't want to get blacklisted, especially at this particular location as it's 15 miles from my house.

To those that think I need an attitude adjustment, well, I did say I try to approach everyone in a friendly way. I will say thank you and have a nice day even if they haven't been friendly.

For the record, I wasn't mad because I had to wait an hour. I was mad because the guy gave every indication that the unload process was in motion, then disappeared.
I am still new but I get that there is always a wait. I've waited hours for no apparent reason. It's frustrating, but I understand it's the nature of the beast.
