This 168 hour rule just took effect July 1,2013. Learn how to read before you make a stupid reply.

The 168 is just the amount of time between resets. It has nothing to do with how many hours you work.

OK, now I got it. You just can't restart until after 168 hours since last restart.

168 hours since the beginning of your last reset.

I'm still confused, can we still use the 24-hr restart in oilfield operations? Because 395.1(d)(1) in HoS still state CMVs used exclusively in transportation of oilfield equipment and servicing field operations gas and oil industry -- 24 hour “restart” of 70 hours in 8 days calculations.

There are definitely some things that will have to be addressed for some operations.

If the 24 hour reset is still available, that would seem to negate the requirement for the reset to span through 2 periods between 1-5 am. But...does the 1 reset during a 168 hour period apply to the oilfield? If it does, it would effect the ability to work a 5on/1off schedule consistently. The first 5/1 would be fine, but the second one, you would have to wait to the end of the 168th hour before starting your next 24 hr reset. I have not found any definite explanation for this as it applies to oilfield exemptions.

there was a proposal that the oil field expemption was only for only the high trained trucks located at the well site not the supplier trucks like frac and water don't know how it came out or if it was dropped.

The way I understand it...we do get 24hr reset,do have to show 30min break, only reset 1time in 7 days. ... My question would be, if I can log that magic 8.75 # do I still have to reset? We just started e logs still trying to figure how to push the envelope.

If you can do the 8.75, you should be fine without a reset...I don't think there was any change that effected that.
