2290 cheap and easy

IMO it's alot cheaper if you just go to IRS and do it for free,no?

 

Why pay any body to do that for you? You can go by any IRS office, as long as you have your fed I.D.# and your vin it cost's you no fee's what so ever. You can also download the 2290 form from the IRS website and fill it out yourself and mail it in, for the cost of a couple sheet's of paper and a stamp.

 

The only problem with going in person is that after you have driven 40 miles one way to get to the IRS office, you have to wait in line for hours and the last time after waiting they told us it would be a lot easier to do it on the internet.

 

Heck in SC you can pay it when you get your tags at the truck DMV. I always printed it out online and mailed my payment in. Very simple form to fill out.

 

Not that easy. You have to use a 3rd party payment system. I learned last year you had to get set-up for Electronic Funds Transfer early. And even then, they screw things up.

That 15% is a nice little discount!

 

Pretty sure the 15% discount only applies to their $9.77 fee. Beets the h3ll out of driving 40 miles and waiting an hour or 2 in line plus having to stop and pick up a money order. I have used them for the past couple of years.

 

I would never pay somebody to do something I can do myself for free. you don't have to wait until the last minute to go pay it either. when you wait until the lst minute of course you are going to wait in line
