Driver, especially those of you who follow the NHRA drag-race circuit; BEWARE of advertisments like "CDL driver wanted. Follow the NHRA race circuit w/ J-Mac transportation / golfcarts / freight. Being a long-time racer & fan, I thought this would be the hot set-up for me in my later "trying to be semi-retired" years. NOT SO...!!!
What you will get for $500/wk + motel;
1.) About 500 - 1500 miles per week.
2.) The chance to be a laborer all week after arrival at the various race tracks.
3.) Learn a new & exciting trade detailing golf carts ( not really a problem ). Of course..that's after you crawl over double-stacked carts stuffed into a 53' vans while moving 100+ramps by yourself.
4.) Be directed by absolute psychos who have older junk trucks patched back together.
5.) Experience the joy of changing oil & greasing a truck in the dirt.
6.) Forget watching any racing.
7.) Load & unload 150-250 UPS & fed-ex packages by hand while the owner & wife B.S. w/ racers & admonish you like a 4 year old in front of the customers.
8.)Perform ANY other menial duties as needed.
9.) Get a new name; "HEY"....or "HEY, ######".
Complain; get a free bus ticket back to where they flew you out of. IE" New Hampshire - Albuquerque NM"...after being thrown out of the truck in the middle of a raging T-storm.
Classy folks. To date, I guess I was high on the senority list, as I lasted 2+ weeks. True story.
You've been warned. Run the other way.
