That is one of my worries. But I am the type that sleeps well when traveling in a car. When I was little my parents would drive around just to get me to fall asleep. Now I am sure it is different in a truck, with all the shaking and noise but I am hoping that I manage. Now my husband will have no problem at all, he can sleep anywhere at the drop of a hat if need be.

you get used to it. well most people do. some just can't do it. The biggest thing is that one of you has to be willing to run all night long. That truck runs 24 hours a day and a company won't put up with a team that wants to stop and sleep at night

Team driving aint too bad if its with someone you know. I did teams when i first started out--got the miles but couldn't sleep cause my co driver stayed on the friggen phone most the time while i was tryin to sleep. Quite annoying! Most the time if your a solo with werner they keep you in the area you live. For instance, I am from southeast and they kept me north east all the time till i started whining then i would get one good load to florida then back up north. I would have had no problems if i coulda went 48 since i was hired as "48 state driver" but they had to keep me in the northeast because I was from NC. Other than the miles--i had no real issues with them.
My point was--dont put me down as a 48 state driver if your only gonna keep me in the northeast. But i was listed as 48 state driver but never even got to go mid west much less past that.
I am sure y'all will do fine. Most company's cater to teams regardless cuz they can push out the miles. Overall, I had no issues with them other than miles. They are not a bad company to start with--they pay about as good as anyone else starting out .
Good luck to y'all and dont stress out! You will be just fine!

Well I hope you are right and that I get used to it pretty quick. I need my beauty sleep! We are planning on my hubby running nights. I had to give in on that one..he he..see we both are night owls but he is more so than me. I mean I can easily stay up all night if I have nothing to do, but I also like being up during the day.
Let's see it is now 4pm CST and hubby is still asleep! He didn't go to bed until maybe 7a this morning. He should be getting up soon. He does that all the time. He is going to have a tough week next week getting used to being in school all day and having to sleep at night! -
OK I'm weird. When I drove team years ago, I slept better when the truck was moving down the road. The vibration, the rocking, and the feeling of floating. Put me out like a light. Heck I have a hard time staying awake in our car if I'm not driving.

i have just walked away from werner as a trainee, my trainer ran me to death, which i wanted the hours so i could complete training, but i did all the work even his paper work was done by myself,i trained for dedicated route but was promised midwest regional. you never eat,few candy bars a day,you get your 10 hr break, but you trainer still has you up and hooking the trailers up while your on your break, i was forced to sleep on top bunk, while tractor was rolling, even though they preach to you this is company and dot violation. i spent countless days at a dirty motel with not any places to eat a good meal, this was due to lay overs cause trainer said they were slow this time of year. i was lucky to speak with a werner driver that has been there for 22 years his advice was go home son find a different and smaller company that wont use you then throw you away. i left and several other trainees left with me. beware newbies, your just a number at these companies , not a person.

did you expect him to do the work? you are there to learn. Yes the top bunk things is wrong although I'd do it before I slept in his bunk. And yes you should get your breaks but other than that it sounds like trucking to me

I was on a train years ago when my hubby and I were traveling and one of the train stewards said the secret to sleeping is to listen to every weird noise you hear, feel every bump and roll with it as you are trying to fall asleep. It's sorta like a meditation thing that will shut your mind off from other things and keep you from concentrating on it bugging you.
I did that while we were in the truck an unless my sleep was messed up from getting off schedule from waiting for loads it worked.
Sassy~ didnt you say you and hubby need a fan to go to sleep? We are the same way, and the noise of the truck sorta took its place for us. -
The old 5 and 5 logging would have worked a lot better for that so you sleep when you are sleepy. I know if I had to sleep in a moving truck I wouldn't be able to sleep more than a few hrs at a time and then be awake. -
yes it was 5 and 5 we were running back then
