I see people post their experience with SNI's orientation and say: "Its not that hard" or "Its not that tough" or "I'm out of shape and I made it".....Then most of them will turn right around and say..."But 8 or more were sent home" or "Out of 20 people only 8 remained".
What is the problem? Why are so many people being sent home if its not that big a deal? Is it the Driving skills?, The lifting? The Heart Rate? or what?
Any recent attendee's to orientation have any feedback on this? Thanks!

Usually failing Drug Test, not being truthful on application.
-
The heart rate is probably with the tanker orientation. Real strict on that.
-
I had a hair and urine sample taken last week.....I thought they did that PRIOR to your coming to orientation?
-
No, it is what that particular poster says it is - based on the experience of the individual. And yes, some get sent home for failed tests and not being truthful on application. The bottom line as I experienced it - pay attention to what is being doled out, don't hit anything, and learn the Qualcom just enough to pass the third week trip planning test - rest assured that for many the Qualcom is a whole new experience that none I know of will master until after the training course (through trial and error). Good for SNI that first year drivers aren't held to the metric standards - it is a time of learning and experiencing

My exp was in bulk, but guessing they're similar.
IMO, I think passing the tests might be a prob for some. They ARE easy, but you have to pay attention in classes. It isn't just common sense t/f questions that you can fudge thru. I had a hard time forcing myself to pay attention because, let's face it, it's not exactly mind expanding material.
Driving? Everyone is a bad driver at first, instructors know that. Just improve on whatever they say you're doing wrong, don't hit anything and you're good.
In my class, the guys that left, they left on their own. There was one that 'disappeared' and no one knew what happened , I don't know what went on.
Drug testing/BG check were done well before I got there.
My thoughts are that schneiders main training emphasis is to think , use common sense, don't panic and do something dumb. Rather than try and teach you exactly how to do every little thing.WA_Slim Thanks this. -
the heart rate thing is part of the PWS, it applies in van just the same. If your heart rate goes above a set number based upon your age you fail.

biggest thing about that prework screen is to breath as normally as possible while doing each task. Holding your breath elevates your heart rate.
From my class, we had one guyut leave due to family medical emergency. I happened to be back through Indy several months later and he was back in class. Passed and saw him in Obetz several months after that!!
The first to excuse himself was a guy(shared the hotel room with him, real nice guy) who had a year or so driving but with an autoshift. He left to take refresher training in shifting at the school he went to. SNI was in agreement with his choice as that afforded him his best chance of success. Unaware if he decided to come back through. -
Drinking at night while in the hotel is automatic kick out. Don't even have one beer. Next BLOOD PRESSURE, then the exercise regine with heart rate, I've sewn guys fail because u have crab crawl under the trailer to look at king pin.
