I've hauled three furniture loads so far but have not touched the freight even one time. They move alot of furniture and carpet. Like I said, the majority of the driver unloads are done by the local/dedicated folks. I'm OTR....not to say I won't have too at some point but I don't see it so far as being a big issue.

Glad to hear you are having a good experience. I found true the same things you described. I was thinking of going flatbed myself until I talked to a friend of mine that does it for W/S. You just have to be prepared and willing to do the extra work...it's a lot of work! He said it's very common to spend 4 hours tarping a load and if it's windy or the weather is bad, it sucks...but on the positives, you generally have one pickup, one drop and you won't be bumping a dock (so minimal backing), you always have the same trailer, and the frieght is interesting sometimes. Good luck with it, just know what you are getting into, work-wise.

I wouldn't worry too much about the physical agility stuff. I found it to be very easy and you can take your time doing it. There was a couple of lifting things and the other stuff was almost silly it was so easy....like crouch for three minutes....lol

the lifting stuff is what i am worried about! ugh! My arms and hands arent all that strong so we will see what he says when i call him back tomorrow.

I am considering W/S but I live in Central, FL. Do not know if they hire in that area.

Hey Kinghunter.........Your best bet is to call W/S in Missoula, not sure anyone on this site can answer that for you. -
1-800-548-8895 give them a call and see!

LadyTrucker.... Don't worry about moving furniture , all that stuff slides real easy. If you can crank the landing gear up & down you'll have no problem unloading. So far i've worked harder chaining up, now that's work. -
Yeah just give 'em a call and they can tell you. What I was told when I got hired is that you need to be within 100 miles or so from one of their terminals....best just to call them.
