I probably forgot to lock the door. I noticed earlier a lot lizard in broad day light try to get in a truck that was next to mine. She pulled the handle of the door and it wasn't open. The curtains were closed, and when she seen me. She was like ohhh I didn't see you there. Then asked me if she can sit in my truck which I told her no.
I had been getting out of truck to check and see if my reefer was cooling down, because it never got down to the set temperature in the 4 hours or so that I had loaded it, and was lowering the temperature way below the right temperature to get trailer to cool off. So I probably just forgot to lock the door. Even though I am aware of the lot lizards. I just didn't think they would open someones door especially if the truck is running, and all that for a stupid dollar. I actually would of went to the atm and gave them 20 dollars for not keeping my wallet which had my fuel card, social security card, drivers license and debit cards in it.
I was thinking about looping the seat belt through the handle of the door and steering wheel, but I was so out of it. I finally went back to sleep. Will take note of those ratchet straps. And normally my windows are down if its a nice day and in the 15 years of so of driving I never had a problem with somebody breaking in my truck. Half of the time I don't even lock the door. But guess times are changing.

I originally started 'trucking' back in the late 80's and got out in 96 after my youngest was born. Then due to lack of employment in my then current field I am now back out on the road. Have been back on the road for only 2 yrs now. Much has changed since the 80's. I knew back then to lock my doors. They had no problem climbing up in your truck back then either. And they were actually a lot more proliferate back then. I dont see as many out in the open today.
I like to sleep with my windows down in good weather too. I had never had a problem up until now. Its a shame we have to lock and barricade our self inside our own trucks. My sleeper has a door that opens from the inside. So I do have a quick exit should I need to get out in the hurry. I've modified the passenger seat to accommodate my girl. Put her bed there so hopefully anyone who thinks its ok to come into my truck uninvited re-evaluates their decision when they see her. My only concern will be that I hope I dont get sued if she bites someone,.. even if they deserved it.
I head back out tomorrow. Good to have her for the company, but mixed feelings about what could go wrong.
Wish me luck.

I can feel a mouse tip toeing in my trailer!

I once got broken into and raped. I tried to fight it off but had to give in. When the police come the officer told me he would let me know if they found her. I said good, get me her phone number too!
allniter and crabcracker Thank this. -
This person potentially has all of the information she needs to commit identity theft and wire fraud. I would get all of your credit cards reissued immediately.
-
That person will be surprised if they tried to do identity theft on me. She probably has a better credit rating. I'm not worried. I don't believe she is that smart. They don't want a paper trail just quick money for drugs I guess.

And it is exactly this kind of crap that we have to put up with out there that I would love for the folks who say we don't have to idle in hot weather because we can just roll down our windows to see. Besides the noise and smells that come in through an open window, we have to deal with PEOPLE trying to get in as well.

one issue is what if you have to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night? lol
