I actually had a family emergency that I told them I needed to go home for and they told me just to let them know what I was going to do.
-
I do understand because it happened to me but I kept in touch with the counselor they assigned for me to call with any problems. my trainer dropped me off at the ta in Tampa then he went home to Miami for the 4th of july long weekend. first of all I was so glad after 6 days to get off his truck cause he was such a jerk pulling the same stunts with me that yours did with you. my counselor called me back a few hours after I told him that my trainer put me off the truck for the weekend. they flew me from Tampa to calls the next day and put me with a much better trainer to finish. I recommend if you haven't already burned your bridge with Stevens to call them and see if they will toe you back bt understand if they do, you will start from day one. then if they take you back, you must spend an entire year or more just to prove to another company you won't jump ship. best of luck.

Thank you. I just hoped that maybe jerks like that were real few and far between. My wife kept telling me to let the counselor know, but not knowing anything about trainers I didn't know whether saying something would make the situation worse or not.

I also had a family emergency after I had been solo with them for 5 months. I went home then 6 months later returned and I had to be with another trainer for 4 weeks. this time it was different, I knew this guy from the year before so we tolerated each other. we both got through it. be careful when you burn bridges these days, especially in the trucking business with DAC reports. 10 year history takes a long time to go away. good luck. when/if you go back, tell Randall you want Shane as your trainer.

My counselor had safety shut down one of my trainers in Podunk Iowa because he wouldn't stop for a 8 hour break I called the counselor and he had me in a hotel and enough extra for a meal via t check express code, then a cab 35 miles to the bus station then another trainer picked me up then finished my training with some great advice. don't stop now finish it out and get your year of solo driving then many companies will want you if you keep your license clean.

I will tell them that. Thanks for the good advice!

I agree with the above, my last time there I got to know a fellaw who took 5 months off between trainers (was 3 weeks in, dad got sick, went home, called stevens, they said come on back).
If you can tough it out it will help you out in the long run. -
I started with FFE and was very pleased with experience.

Leave Stevens as soon as possible. Driving for them is a set up for failure. I could go into specifics, but you've already heard the stories. They are true. Don't worry about the cost of your CDL training. My monthly note is almost $300. I can cover that with one week's pay and still have more money in my pocket that same week I pay my note, than I ever made driving for Stevens for 15 months. No, I didn't go to their school. More importantly, I'm treated with respect by dispatchers and driver managers. I no longer have any stress when I'm out there driving. Do your homework and figure out what company is the best fit for what you want. Stevens took 10 weeks to respond to my new employer's request for employment verification and work history. I didn't receive my final paycheck from them either. Yes, I am eligible for re-hire as stated on the form they sent my employer and I get a postcard every month trying to get me to come back.
UKJ Thanks this.
