Still in Ontario, CA spent all day calling on loads offered under 2.00/mile only thing paying decent was heading up to Washington and Oregon or ND,SD or WY pretty much all dead areas. Tired of waiting I'll just take it on the chin and take one of these sub par rates just to get out of here. I'm sick with the idea of hauling cheap freight

Back in mo.
Delivered in altoona, then went to the Detroit dealer there to have some adjustments made to the ecm, and update the software etc while it's free.
Jack checked the clutch and found it out of adjustment, so he adjusted it while he was there, and found the source of my clutch rattle. Earned himself a case of beer before I left, so we are both happy!
Martindannythetrucker and SHC Thank this. -
I've also been striking out lately. I was hoping for a little bump after the 4th, but not seeing it and not seeing the occasional honey loads popping up either.MackDaddyMark Thanks this.

What did the rattle end up to be?

Motor city

There is a shaft that goes into the bellhousing.
This shaft has part of the linkage bolted to the end of it, with a plate that goes into the shaft via a key way. The plate was a little too thick, not allowing the linkage to clamp tightly onto the shaft, allowing it to rattle. Jack removed the bolt, slid the plate out and ground a few thousandths off the plate where the linkage goes. Allowed the linkage to be tightened a little further, taking out all the play etc.
Kind of hard to describe, so hope that made some sense?
MartinSHC Thanks this. -
That makes perfect sense Martin.
Always nice when people can still "fix" something. -
Indeed it is still nice when someone can actually fix stuff instead of swapping parts around.
It would have been a warranty deal at a WS dealer, but for the $44 bill at the end of it all, including a clutch adjustment, it didnt pay me to sit in line at a WS dealer!
I will keep my eye on it, as it would have been better to remove the linkage and grind a little off that end to tighten it up. But that would have taken at least an hour or so instead of @15 minutes.
If it makes noises again, will yank it all off and make a new plate using the old one as a pattern, probably out of cold rolled, then grind back the "jaws" on the linkage end.
Currently finishing off fitting power locks to the Star, as I got used to them on the 'Shaker. These ones are also remote too, not bad for @$30 shipped!
MartinSHC Thanks this.
