Well hopefully I'm back! Still waiting on the "come on" for orientation. I am 36 now and I've had my CDL's and also driving since I was 21, I remember that day like it was yesterday. I was just as excited to get my CDL's and start driving as I was the day I turned 16 and got my class D's. I have been out of the industry for the last 4 yrs due to my fathers stroke, so I had to go to CDL school to get my 160 hr refresher, just completed it yesterday. Would've never left the road if it wasn't for my (" pop" love and miss you ole man) which as much as I love driving, I would leave it again to get another day with him. His passing "this past Christmas" is still really fresh and painful so I won't get to deep into that! I stumbled on this forum a couple months ago when starting my research to find a company that I wanted to get started with and all of u have been helpful in my decision although my choices were limited since I've been off the road for so long. But that's just the way it is, if I got to start off on the bottom and build my experience back up, oh well, in my opinion there's no better industry to do it in!!! See everyone on the road in the near future, stay safe and drive careful!!!
Back on the road!!!

Welcome back to the truckin' world. I understand about your father, I was overseas when mine passed away, back in 1975.
For the trucking part, the best money these days is tanker & flatbed. Depending on where you live, there are many companies that will hire you, so you really don't have to start on the bottom. System Transport, Maverick, Melton Truck Lines, Schneider Bulk(tanker division), Prime Inc.(flatbed or tanker).
Should be able to make a grand a week with the companies/divisions I listed. Take care.Trucks&Ink Thanks this. -
Thank you Chinatown, my condolences to you also. I know his passing is suppose to get easier but it's just hard to see the light at the end of that tunnel right now. Hopefully not to jinx myself but if everything thing works out, I will be going with McElroy. From what I understand, they seem like a good company also. Any info you have on them would be greatly appreciate. I live just outside of Florence SC, I tried Maverick but they said they weren't hiring in my area right now. I pulled a tanker (propane) the last time I was out and just wanted to try flat bed this time. Be safe & drive careful!!!
