Hey guys I'm interested in applying to a food service company. Here are some of the companies I'm interested in MBM, Sysco, US foods, and GSF. I just completed a year of driving experience delivering beer, so I know all about customer service, using hand trucks, power jacks etc.... I did some info on these companies but would like to hear some cons and pros in regards to these companies.....by the way I live in the LOS ANGELES area..... Thanks

Apply anyway. Many companies hire new CDL grads, but don't advertise it. Sometimes depends on if the particular terminal needs drivers.spydablactrucking Thanks this.
-
Check Greatwide, they have many food service divisions all over America.
-
Depends are you a I got to be home everyday person? Cause MBM big money is 2-3 days out. UsF, Sysco home everyday. Personally I'd go USF or MBM, MBM if its lift gates pallet drop only. I worked at USF and hearing Sysco guys on the other forums Sysco is not what it used to be. Also do you have Shamrock Foods there? Good company in my area believe they have a terminal there, they make good money too. Your exp your a shoe in anywhere as long as your record is clean.

Read this whole thread. This will answer your questions. Lots of great info on MBM here as far as pay, schedule, routes, etc..

Hey Radman thanks for the reply, I looked up Shamrock foods there is a DC in the area, I might go ahead and apply, btw I do have a clean driving record, just wondering if only having a year of tractor trailer driving experience will lower my chances. I do know most of these food companies require at least a year exp. I put it in my year, now I'm just looking for a much better paying company to work for. Any info on Shamrock Foods????

You'll be good with one year. Hell USF was training guys off the dock to drivers when I left. We got people from shamrock and other folks I talk to say it pays just as well and a good company in my area. You'll notice everyone recycles from every company. People get canned then next week have a job at the other place.

Well just submitted an app online for Shamrock, now ill just sit back and waite and see what happens. I might even apply to some ltl companies. Like I mentioned before I put in my year and now just looking for a better paying company to work for.
-
Way easier then beer and pays better. Only thing about LTL is it can pay very well but your first year is the hardest and they layoff. Where foodservice there is no such thing as a layoff. Everyone gots to eat.

I work in the ltl and trust me when I say the money isn't here anymore. I gross $50k a year no overtime and it seems like 9years with the company and its the busy time for us ltl drivers right now and no overtime lol. Gotta go somewhere where I can make that money. Food service here I come !! Lol
