how many years do Stevens trainers have???

I like your way of thinken.But unfortunately its slim pickens finding a trainer with yrs exp.Many if not most have less then a yr.

 

I think Stevens drivers have to have a year OTR before being able to become a trainer. Unfortunately with all companies some trainers with 10+ yrs OTR are complete idiots doing it for the extra money.

 

Its not always how long the trainer has been OTR, and more about how the trainer was trained. I would put a lot of weight into considering companies that require training trucks to run as a team operation against those that training trucks are ran as solo (trainer is just training), or a modified hybrid in which the trainer never leaves the CO-Pilot seat. (I.E. not sleeping while trainee is in the seat.)

 

Stevens trainers must have 1 yr solo experience as well as meet trainer req to be a trainer. In short, no major accidents, no more than one service failure in previous 3 months.
Some trainers are in it for the money, some (like me) were altruistic...but it is what it is.

 

I'm out with a Trainer Now, he is coming up on his 3 year anniversary with Stevens. He's been training since right after his 1 year anniversary.

 

I met a guy who has been with Stevens 27 years he said... he was a trainer.

The trainer I had was in his 5th year.

I was a trainer in the Army after one year accident free, this was back in 1981 so it is not.a new concept.

It's good that you want that. I went to a driving school to recruit and guys are just like "I don't wanna get stuck with no trainer fer 3 to 5 weeks I wunnuh get out thar and start making money" and it's just like.... okay dude haha have fun being cut loose on your own after 2 weeks, see how well that turns out.
