You will be fine with a doctor approved prescription. When you take youre dot test if you are positive for a prescription drug, the MRO will look in his magic computer box and verify you are prescribed the drug and that's it. If you are taking a drug such as methadone, for pain you will have to stop taking it as it is not allowed by the Federal dot.

Where do you get your medical card at is the question? I bet it's not a company picked doctor.

Besides all that and even with an approval from a doctor that has never watched you drive while on them, get in a fatality and watch their attorney tear you a new one. Your approval is based on yes doc I can drive safely. Okay I'll write you a note. There is no real evaluation to see if it affects you. Meanwhile you have the DOT having them on their list of bad drugs because they are highly addictive and can easily be abused. Twice I've used them after dentist visits and I felt I could drive safely too. They make me hyper hence they change my normal behavior so I shouldn't drive. But safety shut me down in my tracks as soon as they found out because you become a liability and a high risk. People have gotten DUI's while on them. I know a driver that had a head on with a ex-cop that come across the median. The ex-cop just had his Hydrocodone prescription filled. He thought he could drive too.

It doesn't matter if you have a note. Newbies go to a company picked doctor that has consulted with the company over yes and no. 99 out of a 100 will say no to narcotics even if prescribed. You won't fail the drug test but you don't just have to get by the doctor you have to be insurable by the company.

I don't know what the deal is condo but you sound angry and on a soap box. I made a simple statement. Some people have taken medicine for years, are responsible, and yes don't abuse what they take to function on a daily basis.

You are typical of the people who have let the idiots who abuse these medications effect their opinion and good judgement.

I believe it's against the law to drive under the influence of any NARCOTIC, prescribed or otherwise.

Said it before... I'll say it again, people never cease to amaze me.

It is against the law to drive fatigued, roll out the sleep police as in the new csa regs for breaks and restarts.

The problem with this country and all of this ,is some how we have collectively as a people decided that no one has the sense to make a decision unless it is subject for review by a "jury" of our peers ". Mindless people will loose this country and our freedom for us.

Well lets see; Trans Am, Estes Express, National Carriers, Tango, and my current company have all HAD me go to "their" doctor during orientation. I have the Pain Management agreement that lists ALL of my drug tests performed by them showing 100% compliance on opiate levels in my urine AND blood as well as having 100% Pill Counts being done randomly by them. I have a non-narcotic I take during the day and the "bad boys" as yall like to think I take at bed time.

If involved in a fatality or any accident, they can pull ALL my records for the last 8 years and tell how much I took and within the hour of when I took them and as Ive said 100 times on "these threads" someone who doesnt take need to take them on a regular basis will be heavily impaired compared to someone like me who has.

Does someone who drinks a 12 pack a night get the same effect off one beer as the guy who drinks one beer every 3 months??

If people would get technical instead of spreading hearsay; they actually would find out "under the influence" is determined by the pills effectiveness or "half life" on the body. Just so happens my Percocets have a half life of 4 hours; so really the same effect and rules of alcohol.......

But according to the team of doctors here at TTR, just because I take 1 at 9PM I shouldnt be able to drive for a week..............
