Hello all, I drive around some of the most breathtaking roads in Norcal. Not your I-5's or 80's of the state, but the backroads delivering woodchips, sawdust, shavings and hogwood. I'm one of those crazy chip truck drivers. When I was driving OTR in oregon so much I would always be amazed at how the chip drivers up there drove on the back roads so fast. Well, now I know. We drive those roads day after day after day. Let me know how you like the photos!

PERFECT! While not legal on the axels, we don't care about that. Just gross weight.

Waiting to go load in Camino. Right now up there, everything is covered in that white cold stuff.

Somehow I lucked out and got one of the newer trucks on the fleet. It's so much better than those 80's petes we also run...

Thats it. Let me know what ya think!

Takes a skilled ARTSMAN behind the wheel of one of those CHIP trucks!
A friend of mine talked me out of driving a long time ago, said it would age me before my time!

Its that tarping and climbing the ladder that is no FUN!

Stay safe and Don't get to Crazy out there!

That's our tack wheel. It's the mechanical version of a qualcomm. Inside theres a paper wheel that you put in at the beginning of your shift. It then draws a line on the wheel for as long as you have it in. It also draws another line if your driving or standing still. Also, it draws a line like an earthquake detector machine that shows how fast your going. Mine has been manipulated to show 60mph if I'm going any speed over that... :biggrin_255:

Thanks for all the comments. I have some photos from when I was OTR if anyone cares to see...

aww yes, tarping is not one of my favorites. Also, when it's anywhere close to freezing the loads like freeze to the inside walls of the trailer. Theres nothing like being covered in wet shavings all night... meh:biggrin_25513:

I'v considered putting my truck on hauling chips. Just don't know enough about it to know if I'd like it. I know these guys look to always be about 90K around here. When your chips are mounded up over the top of the trailer there is no way they are legal
