I have done this 35 years this August and I can say for certain they are all the same. Doesn't matter if its 1983 or 2013 trucking companies are a dime a dozen.
When my Dispatcher gets lazy or fails to follow up on something he should have done I txt him "This ain't rocket science." He absolutely hates that. But I don't care because there is always somebody else hiring and it will only get worse.
I read that within the next 10-15 years 40% of the truck drivers are going to retire. As long as you don't crash or gets lots of tickets, and can push in a clutch, you will always have a job in this god-forsaken industry.
The only thing you have to remember to make this job work for you is:
1) Don't get foaming at the mouth cursing mad.
2) Bend like a reed in the wind.
3) This ain't rocket science.
