I just filled out an app and expressed interest in their new driver training school. I would love to hear all about why this plan might be a great idea, or not so much?? Any hints, suggestions would be most welcome, as well. A little history on me": I drove team for 5 years for DSW and then Interstate. Let my license lapse and here I am starting all over again, with a new team driver.

I was going to grab the multimeter, but by the time I got home from the 99, got home, woke up, i needed to take it to freightliner, so i just told them to take a look at it.

If you've driven before I'm sure Central is not much different. They are fair and pretty honest about what to expect. You don't make much in school and you pay your tuition back (only half if you stay the whole time) over your first year. The school was the best part for me. They're good at making you hurry up and wait but once the information starts coming, it comes fast. As a driver already, you can probably fly through the class part. I don't know much about the refresher course but it's a little faster than an already fast placed class.
On another note... 365 3/4 days!!! I am now a driver, lol! One year down, 2 years and 2 months to go. Gripe of the day: here's a 2800 mile load. MAC-11 and THANKS! "Aww, just kidding. You've been unassigned!"

Am I understanding correctly that after your first 6 months at .28/.29 cpm, if you get through it clean and clear you are eligible to upgrade to a dedicated account that will pay .40+ cpm?
-
I'm going to be starting there in a couple of weeks and was wondering what to expect too company wise, truck, training, pay all the stuff
-
I know midwest regional gets .41 cpm and you can start with them right away if from the midwest, but you will get fewer miles; in the 2200 range. For most dedicated accounts you'll have to be with the company for 4-6 months unless your trainer was on a dedicated fleet and you want to join that fleet then its a month or two quicker. Farmland takes drivers at 4 months and receive .005 cpm increases every 6 months up to I believe .36 or .38 cpm with a guaranteed 2300 miles or more per week.

That was a perfect description, and I was an electronics technician for 25 years.
Lady K Thanks this. -
Actually, the Farmland account is .38 cpm right away...no working up to it, with a guarantee of 2300 miles/week...unless you take home time or if you have a service error that 'is' your fault (sleep in and miss your apt). Yes, 4mo exp and they say Company drivers only (because you can't make enough as a l/o to make it work. I took the Farmland account to even out my paychecks...which it did - I didn't have to worry about any week where "freight is slow" - if freight was slow, I still got paid the min 2300 - if I was busy, then bonus for me - all miles are paid at .38 cpm. Anyway, just a clarification on the Farmland account.Lady K Thanks this.

Does the company give you some sort of run-down or something on paper as to what your options are, and the requirements for, joining these different dedicated fleets?
